Does this sound like I contracted herpes?

So about 4 days ago, I had unprotected sex with a woman. At the time, this woman had no clue that she had herpes until the day after we had sex. I am positive that I did not have herpes before she and I had sex because I was tested a year ago. Plus the partners who I’ve been with prior are clean and have shown me their std panels.

The woman told me that she had all telltale signs of herpes (lesions, flu like symptoms, nausea) the day after. I, on the other hand, experienced none of this. Upon her telling me this, I immediately went to urgent care and had my blood drawn. The results haven’t come back yet, but I can expect them to come next week or so.

The ONLY symptoms that I THINK I am experiencing is a tingling sensation in the tip of my penis and two pimples (or lesions) above my penis in the pubic area that have now scabbed over. Upon messing with them, they emitted a clear liquid. I can provide pictures if needed. I have a small scabbed cut on the side of my penis that I hadn’t noticed before, but messing with it produced clear liquid as well. However, I’m not sure if this is indicative as being classified as a lesion.

If anyone could please give me any idea as to whether these are signs of genital herpes, it would be immensely appreciated. I am beyond scared for both my love life and my actual life. Thank you and god bless.

I would like to also mention that the area where the two pimples/lesions are are also slightly elevated and tender to touch. Pressing down on them for 10 seconds or so doesn’t warrant any severe pain, just initial tenderness which immediately subsides.

Hopefully you did the type-specific IgG antibody test, not IgM, as the latter is so unreliable it's considered useless for herpes testing. But if IgG, and if you're an established carrier (had it for more than 3 months), you will find out. Feel free to post your results here for help, especially if numeric values are provided, since the results are not necessarily all they seem to be. As for the woman, did she actually test positive by swab, or is she just guessing? Past partners likely never tested for herpes, by the way, as it is not routine and needs to be specifically requested.

Hi FelizCastus and thanks for the reply,

I’m not sure which test was given unfortunately. I’m not sure if the girl got a swab done but I do know that she did get blood work done. She hasn’t received the results but as I said she had all the telltale symptoms of hsv2. Based on the “symptoms” that I have, would you consider this a sign that I contracted hsv2 as well? I recently took my temperature to see if I was running a fever and I’m at 98.4 on average.

Once again thanks for the help.

At this point, you don't know if what she has is actually herpes, or which type if it is. She should have done a swab, because if not and it's a new infection in her, you still won't know what she has, as the IgG blood test has a window period of up to 3+ months (again, IgM is useless). Even if she does have it, it's possible that you gave it to her, or that she had it and the sex triggered an outbreak. That is why a swab and IgG test done together would provide the most answers, plus you doing an IgG test as well. It could always be HSV1, by the way, which many people unknowingly carry orally.
