Dont Know What is Really Causing the Flushes

Everytime I put anything in my mouth and swollow I have a hot flush/sweat, whether its food, drink (hot and cold), a mint, even brushing my teeth. This does not seem a "normal" menopause symptom does it ? Why after everything that I swollow? I worry because I have quite bad gum disease with some teeth leaking infection into my mouth.....maybe its the infection causing the hot sweats and flushing as I take bacteria into my stomach. I have been to dentist who tells me to just keep on cleaning my teeth but its not working the infection isnt clearing. I dont know what is causing the hot sweats and flushes. All my blood tests are normal except the female hormones which my doctor says is border-line peri-menopause and i havent had a period since April (2 months missed periods)...so the sweats could be menopausal. I just dont get why after everything i swollow...unless it really is dental related. I get butterflies in my tummy before the hot flush too. What does anyone think...i feel like i am loosing my mind, the dental infections/peridontal disease is driving me mad, i cant believe the dentist wont extract my teeth but rather keeps on cleaning infected teeth !

I can't say I have had that symtom, however, I did Google a few things and it is suggested that some kind of medications can cause that. Are you on any? Also high anxiety can too. I think see your Doctor as he or she will be able to advise further. I also did read that eating can trigger a flash. Ugh, it's all very confusing.

Read that bacteria associated with poor dental health can cause heart probs. Not scaremongering - I'm am truly dental-phobic, childhood experiences run deep! - but your dentist NOT YOU is making you feel rough!
Yes, cleaning will help, but like most diseases, this obvious infection needs treating too, surely?
Getting off the dental issue now, as I'll start to over-think about my own dental issues!!!
Eating, especially in a restaurant = bright red face. Had it for years. Not hot, just red. Wonder how much mine could be down to subconsciously feeling uncomfortable eating in public? Never felt outwardly bothered tho'??
First coffee of the day = whoooosh!!! Instant sweat, and I don't even get hot flushes just yet!!
Your experience may well have some bearing on just being good ol' fashioned Perimenopausal!
Maybe first call has to be to your GP. Kill two birds - they may prescribe something for your gum infection and the flushes.
If its at consolation, I put toothache right up there with labour pains, so you have my full sympathy

I'm 100% agreeing with TREVIS - A&E! Its not like me turning up: I'm what I'd call pretty healthy for this time in my life (not crowing, but i've never really been I'll, don't take meds etc) - just Peri odds n sods.
But me + your symptoms = think a doctor's help is for you Kiddo.
May also be that a hospital intervention might result in a referral to a specialised Dental Clinic based at a hospital (think King's College in London has a window early in the morning whereby you can just turn up and sit and wait for a few 'and hoc' appointments they offer. Excellent dental provision so I hear).
You sound like this is getting you down: that in itself is probably not good as that alone may have a knock-on effect for your ME

If you Doctor thinks you're "nuts", has he not suggested some psychiatric help for you???
Good Luck
