I had been taken clomipramine for over 10 years for OCD and anxiety caused by the OCD
I come off clomipramine with not much of a problem and started taking duloxetine at first no problem at all. I am taking the tablet at 6 am before I leave for work then around 5 pm I would start to feel very anxious and my Tourette's would start like the medication was not strong enough. I started taking 40 mg and after 1 week I was feeling so unwell with .severe knee pain and muscle cramps throughout my body, I decided to go back to 20mg and it's been 5 weeks and still have pain all over and flu like symptoms. in total I have been talking duloxetine for 90 day .
has anyone else had these type of side effects .
do you think if the tablet was going to work 90 days is long enough?
unfortunately due to family genetics I can not just not taken anything witch is so frustrating.
I'm looking at trying citalopram or sertraline has anyone else tried this medication for OCD and anxiety?
thanks for listening.

Do you think your anxiety caused pain and cramp. I have been taking Duloxetine for 9 months, started with 20 mg and went up to 120 mg. And, I am still not recovery 100%. I had side effects in the first two weeks when I started or increased dosages. I had body ache, but I think my anxiety caused it.
My side effects were: very tired like having flu, constipation and dry mouth, dry skin.
If it is not a right dose, you will not see big improvement. 20 mg per day is too low.
I hope you have luck with this medication. We never know until we try it.

I tried Citalopram for severe anxiety and it made me feel worse. I was tired all the time and felt jittery. Didn't like it. I just started Sertraline and so far I'm liking it much better. My doc also said it has less side effects than most. I'm sensitive to pills so I'm starting out at 12.5mg and working my way up to 25mg. I would give Sertraline a try if the other isn't working after the 90 days. I think Citalopram works better for depression rather than anxiety, in my experience anyway.

Sorry you are having these troubles with the meds!
I can only offer a little advice regard the Sertraline. I have GAD and health anxiety. I'm suffering from Globus Sensation which interestingly has given me an OCD where I would constantly touch my face, neck and chin. It started last summer. I was given Setraline 8 weeks ago. The side effects were, for me, awful and I've had to come off it. I was having awful stomach upsets. All that said the OCD of touching my face and neck went away and my anxiety, even in that short space of time, was loads better. It's a real pity I had to stop them but I couldn't live with the constant running to the loo! I am now looking to start another med as all my anxieties are coming back!

Hi Emily, just curious how many mg you were on with Sertraline? I haven't experienced the upset stomach but it has given me some headaches which I hope go away.

Hi!
I was on 50mg. I had ringing in my ears too, still waiting for that to go. I'm sure the headaches will settle down for you. I think I just didn't get on with Sertraline sadly. I'm hoping I find something that will suit me! I didn't have any headaches but coming off them I've had them!
