Eardrum repair surgery query

Posted , 1 user is following.

Hi, I've had a middle ear infection for 3 months which has (I hope!) finally cleared up. However there is still a hole in my eardrum.

The ENT consultant is referring me to another specialist to perform eardrum repair surgery using a skin graft. But he said that the ear has to be completely dry for a while before they will do the surgery, as a wet ear will result in surgical failure.

Since I had masses of questions to ask the consultant, I totally forgot to ask how long the ear has to be dry for, before they do eardrum surgery..... so I was hoping someone on here might know the answer?

Thanks
