Elevated CA-125

My friends CA-125 levels have been climbing at an astronomical rate.  Has anyone had a level of 750,000 -- it seems every time she has bloodwork done it is severely elevated.  She is currently on chemo and radiation.  When it reached 140,000 she became frantic.  Now she is overwhelmed and does not know where to turn.  Thinking of trying a clinical trial.  Oncologist told her "why bother".  Great bedside manner.

    Contact the MyOvacome helpline 02072996650. It is manned by nurses with personal experience of ovarian cancer. They are lovely and very helpful.

      Thanks for the info.  I told her she needs to go to a support group to relate to others going through what she is, and then I referred her to this site.  She seems to want to be alone and handle it herself.  I will give her the phone number you supplied -- she needs to talk to someone who can offer her hope. Thank you for taking the time to help.

      They also have an internet forum where people can share, vent, help each other and generally be themselves. I've told a couple of other members about it, they are now members and seem to be finding it very helpful.

      You could ring them too if you need to, they are perfectly happy to answer any questions you may have and guide you as to the best way to support her.
