I've just been trying to get my repeat prescription of Elleste Solo 40mcg patches. After moving house, getting a new doctor, annual review and trying to sort out online ordering teething problems _ I'd hoped everything was now sorted. Went to the pharmacy to collect my 3 months supply this morning, only to find there is some sort of manufacturing problem and they are out of stock and can't be ordered. Tried another chemist in the area but to no avail - in the past, chemists I've visited have usually had to order them for next day delivery, rather than holding stock - so I think I'm stuffed!!
Don't know what sort of "problem" it is or when they are expected to be back in stock. Anyone else had this issue with Elleste or other HRT recently - could this be a Brexit supply issue?
Waiting for the doctor to get back to me with an alternative but in the meantime, can anyone suggest a viable alternative Estradiol only patch with a 40mcg dosage?

I use Estraderm MX 100mg but I don't know about other dosage availability, and I am in Australia.

Elleste is out of stock in my area of the UK. Both 1mg and 2mg. GP is having trouble finding an alterative as so many of them are not available. I can see an awful lot of women being forced off HRT due to this sadly.

After a lot of messing around, (and nearly running out) it was the pharmacist that recommended a replacement to my doctor - Estradot 37.5 mcg patches. They are tiny in size but only a slightly lower dose that the Elleste solo at 40mcg and I've been OK with them since. I now have supplies to take me to June, when I'll have to check the situation again - but wouldn't mind staying on these new ones, if needed.
You mention 1mg and 2mg - I assume these are tablets? Interesting (if worrying) that tablets are out of stock as well as patches. Have a word with the pharmacist - I found our local one (at Tesco!) to be much more helpful than the doctors and able to check what was actually in stock. Good luck!

There are other options other than tablets and transdermal is better anyway. You need to investigate further.

How are others in the UK getting on with their HRT prescriptions? The UK shortages of some sorts of HRT had made the news recently but we don't seem any clearer as to what has caused it. They quote "manufacturing problems" or "supply issues", which is all rather vague. It seems to be spreading to other brands, as those are being prescribed as replacements and causing knock on supply problems.
After initially seeming OK on the Estradot 37.5 mcg patches, my hot flushes started to creep back, so I asked the doctor to give me something stronger. The doctor wrote the prescription with then generic term Oestradiol, rather than any particular brand and I ended up on Evorel 50, which have been fine. Then last week, I needed to get my next prescription only to find the chemist could only get 1 months supply and not 3. The others are on back order and I'm starting to get concerned what will happen when the ones I have run out.
Are others having similar issues - and is it just in the UK?
