Emuaid for Lichen Sclerosis

I am new on here but am getting very confused about my treatment for LS. I have a small patch which is manageable but I also have a split/sore just inside my vagina. This has been there since my diagnosis a few years ago and is checked by my doctor every so often. To complicate life even more I also suffer from Genital Herpes. When I use steroid cream it brings on an episode of herpes blisters. So, I then need to take Aciclivor as a preventative treatment for the herpes as well as use the steroid cream. Not great to say the least.I am always trying to find a way not to use the dermovate and I recently bought a tub of blue Emuaid. I have only used it for 4/5 days but it has made everything really sore. Does anyone else have experience of Emuaid making things worse before getting better? I am very sceptical about the product for some reason and could do with some positive feedback to cheer me up! Also does anyone have recommendation for an everyday moisturiser cream to use that isn't paraffin based?Something that doesn't seem so medical/ horrible smelling/reminds me of my mother in laws old peoples home?!

Hi Hilary, you may want to try olive oil/ coconut oil as a daily moisturiser. I personally prefer the olive oil, I haven't tried the Emuaid that you you speak of.

Wish someone would find a cure for this horrible condition. x

Your experience of Emuaid sounds very similar to mine. It made me very sore and I had to stop using it after 2 days.

I only recently got diagnosed with LS and my GP was not very helpful. Told me to use clob and wait for an appointment with a dermatologist. The clob seemed ok at first but made me a bit sore so I stopped using it. After my consultation with the dermatologist today it sounds like I may have not been using the clob correctly. He told me to sweep apply it rather than rub it in which is what I was doing before. Alongside the clob he has given me emollient spray to keep things moisturised. I am going to give it a second try now that I have a bit more information on how to use it.

One thing that i have been using for the last few months is something called Vmagic which is a natural moisturising cream which has helped me massively, especially after the Emuaid made me so sore.

    Hi Hillary,

I have used Emuaid but sparingly and only on spots where infection might have been a possibility. There is such a thing as getting acclimated to a product but if you have used Emuaid for 4/5 days and had no relief, stop. It does contain many homeopathic products and silver so it may not be right for your skin. As Moira says below, olive/coconut oils (organic only) are very good. There are steroid creams/ointments that are less potent than clobetasol which is super-potent. It can make you sore. You could always go to the drug store and buy over the counter cortisone creams. Also, you could try dissolving baking soda in water and pouring it on the area. If men had this there would be a cure. Stay strong and never give up.
