Entometrial lining of 27 mm

Posted , 6 users are following.

I am a Stage 2 Breast Cancer survivor (8 years!)  My belly, which is normally pretty flat for 63, has become a bit distended.  One night, I suddenly had had pain in the center lower part of my belly.  After a CT and Transvaginal ultrasound, it was found my uterine lining was 27 mm thick and my uterus is filed with fluid.  I am 63, not having bleeding or pain.  My GYN said he would do a D&C.  I can't afford the D&C as my insurance requires I pay $2,100 before I have the procedure.  Can I just leave it alone?

Sorry you're going through this.  No, you can't let this go.  You can't afford not to get the D&C done--it's too great a risk. Usually, if a woman's uterine lining is greater than 4mm a biopsy is in order.  Your lining is more than 6 times thicker.

Did the CT scan reveal anything? xx

CT Scan showed enlarged uterus filled with fluid.  GYN/Oncologist said it's not cancerous.  Based on that, and the $2,100, I'm not scheduling the D&C.  Am I wrong?

I suggest you get a second opinion.  It seems to be that your doctor is not being sufficiently cautious.  To me, if you decide not to proceed you're saying that your life isn't worth $2,100.  Please think about it.

Get a second opinion as soon as you can. Your dealing with some serious symptoms.  Don’t think this forum is the place to ask this serious question. Take care!

Hi Mary Ann, considering you have already won a battle with cancer, I really believe that you would be playing with fire if you just left it alone. Surely considering you have already had cancer once there must be some provision somewhere for you to get financial help to pay for the D & C. Dont ignore it as you could be sorry. Talk to your dr he might be able to assist you. Good luck hun XXX

Thanks for your concern and advice.  Since everyone responding to this seems to think I should have the D&C.   Since I'm not bleeding at all, I will try to save the money to have it done eventually.

Hi again Mary Ann, I dont want to sound alarmist or pushy but dont leave it too long. You've already shown a predisposition to female cancers so I would find out if there is anyway you can get financial assistance from somewhere to help you get it done and dusted asap. Please consider what the ladies here are trying to tell you. We are'nt drs but going on what you"ve said about your medical history we would be irresponsible fools not to tell you to have the D&C and biopsy to make sure there is no cancer there. Hope you get sorted real soon hun. XXX
