Erythema nodosum moving pain

Posted , 2 users are following.

About 10 weeks again I started feeling like I had the flu. It was about two weeks after I returned home from Japan. My muscles hurt all over my arms and legs. I went to my GP and got tested for Kidney and liver function, WBC, autoimmune. I have hypothyroidism but that tested fine. About 4-5weeks into my illness I was diagnosed with erythema nodosum. I went to an infectious disease specialist and was tested for all kinds of tic born dieseses, hiv, syphilus, tuberculosis, and some other viruses. No cause. The EN was most prevelant on my inner and outer thighs only and a few nodules on my calves. The sores were so painful and kept me up all night. I was given doxycycline for 30 days. My EN has gone away but I still have muscle and tendon pain in my thighs that moves around and is sometimes a stabbing pain in one area. The pain comes and goes and it really weird since it moves. Makes me feel like I'm being eaten alive by something. Anyone else feel this way?

    Hi Jenny!

Hope you are feeling better! I was diagnosed with EN in April & thankfully all symptoms & lumps are gone & im so much better! It felt like I had it forever! Unfortunately, I still have joint pain in one knee & don't know why it's not gone yet! It's much better than it was but still lingering...praying it goes away soon! I've never had joint pain before! Do Dr's know what brought the condition on for you?

      Kim,

Actually once I found a different infectious disease specialist I was diagnosed with Lyme disease and given another round of antibiotics. I don't have the rashes anymore but still have lingering muscle pain. My doctor told me it could take up to a year to feel normal. Also found out I was deficient in vit D, B12, and zinc so I am sure that doesn't help. What did your EN look like? I heard it can take a long time to get over EN too. Did you have a cause?
