Evorel and bloating

This has been bugging me for a while! I'm on Evorel 50 patches and have noticed that if I stick them on the left hand side of my body I get bloated, but if they're on the right side of my body I don't. I was switching sides each time I changed the patch, but have now stopped switching and just have them on my right side and the bloating has gone! I know it's a really weird observation, so I just thought I'd put it out there and see if anyone has experienced the same or can explain it at all?

I don't think your observation is strange at all.  I wish I could explain some of these odd reactions, but certainly know they exist.  Possibly your body absorbs the estrogen differently from these opposite sides of the body.

I suggest you stick with what works for you.  You are the only one who truly knows your body.

If it helps at all, I also get different reactions and I HATE THE PATCH ON MY LEFT SIDE.   I also get a tremendous difference from the front vs hip vs bottock.  Trial and error is the key.  But the errors can be very frustrating!!

    Good luck

Hi i just wondered was there much weight gain with the patches? I have been given evorel sequi but haven't yet started using them. I was given them a month ago but am really fearful of blowing out! My son gets married in a couple of months and I have my outfit so I really can't afford to put on any weight. I'm really trying to weigh up the pros and Cons of weight gain against flushes mood swings motivation etc etc etc........ also how have you found the patches di they really help and if you don't mind what we your symptoms. Thank you so much xx

Thanks Gailannie, it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one who is affected by the placement of the patch! I honestly thought I was imagining it for a few weeks!

How come you hate it on your left side?

      Hi tinaarena.1

I am on Evorel (i.e. just oestradiol) rather than Evorel sequi as I have the Mirena for progestogen, so our experience could well be different, but I personally haven't put on weight. I have however been hugely affected by bloating, which started a couple of weeks after using the patches, and for the next 3 months my jeans didn't fit around my tummy. Then it settled down a bit and that's when I noticed the placement of the patch affecting my size.

I think you have to accept that you may get side effects initially, but that there are definite benefits. For me I was willing to accept bloating to get the benefits of better sleep quality, increased energy, and just generally feeling more stable. I hope that helps a little x
