Experience of Pelvic Floor toners?
Posted , 5 users are following.
I am 68 and had a vaginal hysterectomy, anterior and posterior repair recently.I am doing pf exercises and wondered if many of you ladies had experience of pelvic floor toners that are readily available? Are they worth investing in? Comments on your experiences would be welcome.

Hi. I'm same age as you and had same procedures in Feb.2016. Initially very successful, but unfortunately my bowel prolapsed again 5 months later, so first advice to you is not to rush to get well! I felt wonderful straight after the op, and can now only assume I did too much too soon. Unlike others who say your body will tell you if you're doing too much, I had no twinges at all so continued enjoying life! I'm now waiting to see a urinogynacologist next Tuesday to discuss what's next.
However, with regard to pelvic floor toners, I bought a very expensive battery operated toner about 10 years ago when I first felt an urgent rush to get to the loo. I didn't want to end up wearing incontinence pads so was very impressed to see this toner ( sorry, have forgotten name ) featured on ITV This Morning and recommended by a G.P. I used it exactly as instructed for 6 months and one day I sauntered to the loo rather than Rush...I wet myself! So for me it proved useless and ver, very expensive...over £100.
I received no advice after my op other than to keep doing exercises. Not convinced they make a difference. I notice that some girls/ladies posting on this site have received proper physio help with exercises. This might be the way to go!
Good luck, and TAKE IT EASY!

Thanks for you reply. I am now 10 weeks post with my follow up
appointment in June. I have been able to take things easily, building
up walks etc. I had a physio appoint prior to deciding to have what
I thought was just anterior repair carried out when in fact
it ended up posterior and hysterectomy. For the time being I will
carry on with pf. My consultant is very easy to talk to and perhaps will
advise further?? As you say these toners are v expensive but you
only know if they are of benefit by buying one!
Hope that you get some positive info in your consultation.👍
Best wishes, x

I got one recommended by my Physio,as my problems were mainly with my rectocele that had been repaired but was still having faecal incontinence but that actually got worse with the toner,so I stopped using it also used the vaginal probe for my cystocele and that hasn't really helped either, expensive mistake for me

I have mixed feelings about the pelvic toners. I got one (yes very expensive) after having an anterior repair & hysterectomy in Dec 2013. I knew I had a small rectocele & wanted to try & stop that getting any worse.
Initially I think it did help as it enabled me to locate which muscles to exercise & woke them up a bit! Unfortunately my AR has failed & I need a rectoenterocele repair. I have stopped using it as I find it makes my bladder area very sore. I use Vagifem twice a week which is good.
The most helpful person I spoke to was a specialist female physiotherapist. I saw her privately but it was worth the money as she was so sensible. I'm putting off having more surgery for the time being but I will definitely ask her advice when I do.

Thank you Imnotadoctor/Moonwitch for your input. I'll carry on
as normal for the time being until I've seen consultant. There
are lots of opinions on such as Amazon and others, are they all
genuine or sales ploy!!!! 🤔Xx
