I have been on venlafaxine 125mg for 3 months.

I get headaches and have a problem with sleep.

Psychiatrist has told me to bear with it and the sleeping will improve.  The headaches are due to lack of sleep.

Hi Ruthie, are you currently on 150mg? And how long have you been on that dose for? Gen

    Hi,

Been on it a while ( 2 years), i've found that I have had a number of interesting side effects. However at the minute i'm in the process of preparing to come off them.

I've found  (as weird as it is) exercise has really helped me sleep better, i try and do a good CV workout at least twice a week. I find that when I stop my mood dips dramatically. Its then hard to get back into it. If you do an exercise session after work you'll sleep a lot better.

I've also used Valerium teabags too before I go to sleep.

    Hope this helps

    Hi ruthie

Venalfaxine was the last med I took up until 5 weeks ago I had nothing but problems on this drug I just ended up like the walking dead. I felt very ill coming off it with withdrawals but it was worth it as I'm feeling so much better withought it. I was on meds for 32 years and nothing worked for me but kept taking them because the docs brainwashed me into thinking I would be worse if I didn't take them. Well I proved them all wrong and I'm so angry that I lost 32 years of my life to them drugs. I will never take another antidepressant ever again. I'm using more healthy natural alternative now I'm still depressed and anxious but it's early days at the moment but I don't feel half as bad as I did on them meds

I'm using 5htp, vitamin B12 + B6 and L tyrosine. If you look on the net you will find out a lot of information about these and also there are other things that you wil find out that are helpful. You can get all the things from health food shops

    Hi, Ruthie,

I haven't noticed any of that when and since i've been on venaflaxine, the only one i get is uncontrolled tiredness, to the point of if I have to be up at 9:00 am, I have to set my alarm for 7:00 am take my tablets and go back to sleep.

I really think you should speak to your doctor or psychiatrist about those symptons.

    Em xx

I had an interesting discussion with my psychiatrist the other day. He said what some people think are withdrawal symptoms can actually be the depression/anxiety recurring because you've come off the antidepressant too soon. So it's difficult to tell the difference, but if they last longer than a couple of weeks it's probably the illness coming back. It's the same with side-effects, many of which are the same as symptoms of depression &anxiety. It made me think hard. My side effects on venlafaxine (6 yrs) have been lack of orgasm(!) and lately excessive bleeding.
