I'm 17 yrs old. Perfectly healthy (I've been told) but I've been having left side chest pain on and off for 8 months now. It spreads all down my left arm and into my back and jaw. Sounds like heart disease right? You would think.. but all my EKG's, blood work, echocardiogram, stress tests have come back normal. My cardiologist has one last test to perform. Its an MRI but it isn't until next month.
Anyways, so I don't know what's going on. Hopefully I find out soon. I get palpitations here and there but boy.. they are frightening. They're not like the ones everyone gets occasionally they're like painful when they happen and they happen again like 6 more times in a row! It just scares me that its going to make my heart stop.
I know that sudden cardiac arrest isn't so common in young people, but it does happen. And half of the time, after autopsy they cant find anything that caused it. It just happened, out of no where, for no reason! Isn't that just the scariest thing ever. I was reading an obituary for someone I know who just passed away from cancer, and right under hers was a guy, who was only 29, who just collapsed a few days ago. His heart just stopped. For no reason.
It just scares me that it could happen to any seemingly healthy person including me

I have always had these kinds of pains with anxiety hard to believe what it can make you feel.
But I've had
Left arm pain
Chest pain
Neck pain
Jaw pain both sides
Numbness
All common in anxiety
I also have the thoughts there's is something wrong with my heart and that it 's going to stop but had all tests and all been normal so I put this down to my anxiety..
Horrible problem is anxiety
Your not alone in the battle trust me

Well his heart didn't stop for no reason, there was a reason, it just doesn't say so in the obituary.
Yes, SCD can and does happen to young people but it is very rare. You have had a decent work up so the chances of it happening to you are almost nil. Everyone gets palpations at some point or another and even if you had some kind of heart arrhythmia it would be benign seeing as you had a normal echo. I am 35 years old and I have 3 different heart arrhythmias that were diagnosed when I was 20. One of them can be dangerous but structurally my heart is normal and so there isn't need for me to fear just yet. I also have a serious family history of heart disease that took my father and his father both at the age of 50. I worried over this and my head arrythmias for a long time but it literally sucked all the happiness from my life.
I know palpations and chest pains are scary but you are gonna be just fine. A bit of advice, the more you worry over them, the more they will happen so try your best to focus on something you enjoy. If they are bothering you to the point that you can't do that, ask your cardio for a low dose beta blockers. These help immensely!!! You don't have to take it everyday if you don't want but it's good to have when things get bad.
Anxiety is rough, health anxiety even more so. I am going through a hard time myself right now. I had my anxiety in check for years but I am having physical symptoms unrelated to anxiety and it has me fearing I have cancer. I know what your going through and wanted you to know you aren't alone.. (((hugs)))
