Feel like giving up on fluoxetine

Posted , 6 users are following.

I have been on flu fo 13 weeks the first 12 on 20 mg and now 10 days on 40 mg.

I am still anxious and so tired and suffering side effects. This morning I just felt like screaming with frustration. I just want to feel calm and relaxed.

Any advice ?

Linda

I would go back to your drs, they should have some effect by now, maybe they need changing. Have you had counselling as well? I've found CBT really helps x

10 days is still early days ...... the awful side effects are very commen and often last 2 weeks and a bit more.  Everyone is different.  Your doctor should be keeping an eye on you anyway and you should have follow up appointments every few weeks.

Try persevering a bit longer, you should start to see some change soon.  Sadly this type of medication takes time.  If however you don't see any change after 2 months then maybe try another SSRI - they all work differently for different people.

      Hi mockingbird

Sad to see your still suffering off the side effects of flux. Im now on 60mg I had a terrible 3 days when upping it, sweating,  anxiety, paranioa, social anxiety and lacked more sleep than usual.

As stated I would keep going and keep in regular contact with your doctor.

Fluoxetine has helped my OCD massively, compared to how I was before even though ive become addicted to alcohol and im finding it hard to snap out of my routine with it.

Have to write down ally units that I have but im not an alcoholic. Im obsessed with routine andy gp reckons its not the alcohol im addicted to.

Its all weird and I feel happy but im gwtting counseling from the 11th November.

You can do it and im here to chat anytime.

      hi jeckleunhyde,

i cant believe how your gp is not taking it seriously the fact that you say you are obsessing over alcohol.

you may not be addicted now but if you carry on drinking at this rate it is possible that your body will become physically addicted.

please be careful because once you become addicted to alcohol you are in trouble.

      Hi

Just recently ive not been to bad, last week I went without any alcohol, but come Friday I had a drink then saturday then sunday, eight to twelve cans. I went two months drinking everyday not long ago and my gp has said to write down my alcohol intake until I see him again, im drinking becks alcohol free.

I need routine and feel uncomfortable out of mine, I dont know whether its the taste I crave or the alcohol itself.

Gp said I had to stop or cut down and that im not an alcoholic but have become alcohol dependent, as stated im due to see my counellor soon.

      Hi mockinbird,

You might need a different medication or a combination of two or more. Please, don't lose hope because there many options for you.
