Hi there,
I'm still having some issues with Mirtazapine, I started on 15mg about 3 weeks ago. Two weeks in to taking 15mg I started to become more depressed and anxious, with an increase in nausea. So my GP upped my dosage to 30mg.
Another week passed, and the 30mg made me feel worse, I started to obsess over things, I kept panicking and feeling sick. I had become more depressed and anxious.
I went to my Doctor on Thursday, who said that I was increased to 30mg too quickly. And I was likely having a bad reaction. He reduced my dose back to 15mg, and gave me domperidone for the nausea.
While I feel slightly better, I still keep having obsessive thoughts and panicky moments. The Domperidone doesn't seem to do much for my nausea either. And I keep getting strange symptoms:
Hot/burning sensation on my face
Small moments of shaking
Nausea/vomiting
States of panic and worry
Low mood
Moments of increased emotions (usually teary)
Headaches
moments of appetite/ then no appetite at all
I keep telling myself that they are most likely side effects and they will go away. I've just never had this sort of problem with Mirtazapine before. I took it for about over a year back in 2016, but it failed on me back in November. Since December I've been trying a few other antidepressants that didn't work well for me. So I went back onto Mirtazapine.

Hi robert.
I have just had my dose upped to 30mg as 15 was not helping. My mood and depression have fallen and i feel like i have the flu with a tight chest and shaking hands.
I am a recovering alcoholic and it is very similar to the effect of having no drink.
Sometimes i get so low i have suicidal thoughts or thoughts of going back on the drink as when i was a drunk life passed by and suicidal thoughts were not there unless things got real bad. But taking mirtazapine is supposed to help nd i cant really see how it works but my doctor says it will get better and settle down.
Well now i have 28 tabs at 15mg and 28 at 30mg with a huge urge just to take the lot and hope its enough to end this nightmare for good.

Hey Anghared,
I'm trying to keep it together as best as I can, I visited my doctor yesterday and she said the symptoms I had were likely to be due to my anxiety issues. She's given me metoclopramide tablets to help with the nausea. They do help with eating, but I just hope that the other symptoms dissipate soon.
