Hi everyone i have not been doing so well over the last few days. I have been really feeling very down and yesterday was crying the whole day. I phoned to try and get my results about my mrcp to see if stones are stuck in the bile duct but they still have not checked it all over and want to check it again so wont be hearing back till next tuesday about it. I have a date for surgery which is the 2nd of march but im still on this emergancy list so they are going to try and get me in before then. I just feel so down at the moment waiting around for results and waiting to see if i can have my surgery before then or if ill have to wait and being in this pain all the time and for this long i think has just really got to me now. Im on strong pain meds which seem to not be working as well now. Im just feeling so down and upset of being ill for this long and still having to wait then have surgery and will still have to recover aswell. Sorry everyone for being so down on this post its just really been getting to me over the last few days x

Hi, Carmella,
I can understand how you're feeling! Lots of pain meds seem to work less well the longer you take them. And, I think that some people get depressed because of them, too. Then, they also have side effects that can be troublesome, so doctors aren't likely to increase the amount you can take. You have been in a lot of pain, and I imagine that you just want this surgery over and done with.
But your surgery will happen! Then, you'll be able to concentrate on your recovery and you'll be healthier. xx

You're very welcome! I know how it is to be in pain and anxious about your health! It's so very wearing wondering, "is this really what's wrong?" And all the stress of trying to keep going when all you want to do is close the door and go huddle in a corner!
It does get better!

I know its hard and its so frustrating not feeling yourself. I have days like this also. It really is debilitating. What gets me through bad days is just thinking there are people in worse situations than me. just think after your surgery (which at least you have a date) you will feel 100 times better. Try not to get upset. You said the pain is managable now which is good. I recently had a flare up and it was agony but what really upsets me is having to take so much time off work because of it. Hope you feel better soon. xxÂ

Hey Carmella,
Your allowed to have low days as you are dealing with so much, so seeing my daughter go through it I think you are all so incredibly inspirational on how you do all cope with so much. Hopefully they will have a cancellation and get you in sooner.
Don't know if the hot baths or heated pillows help you or if you have tried them, but they do help her sometimes.
She is now on Freefrom food & that's helped as well.
Your not alone and you are coping incredibly well. X

Hi Carmella,
I truly feel for you, it is excruciatingly painful going on my daughter. But your right the pain killers seem to stop working & the oramorph whilst it does work if we can keep it in her it doesn't always work. In A&E they have to give her IV 10mg morphine & busscopan that is the only combination that works . Once they get her pain under control usually after 2 lots she can go back home and is normally ok for a day or 2.
You will get there but got to say the gallbladder issues are pure evil for all of you.

Hi Carmella,
She suffered for 3 years horrific pain & sickness, no one knowing what was wrong then one Dr did a test & her gallbladder was only functioning at 16%, at the age of 20 that's really poor.
So tomorrow is day 14 post op after gallbladder removal. It was keyhole but that still means they go through core muscle so you really do need to rest up afterwards, outside heals up a lot faster than the inside, my daughter forgot that bit.
Also as she was still having pain they told her go dairy free then on free from foods to help with the digestion.
Since that so yesterday evening and today and this evening , she has no been sick and has not had the horrible pains, the Dr's have said it can take up to 5 weeks for the body to settle back down and you feel much better in yourself.
She has really good days then a couple of rubbish ones but we had not cut out the dairy or gone forefront right from the start or prior to the op, if I'd of known more I think I would of changed her diet sooner to be honest, worth trying anything.
her tummy is now not as bloated as she was before the op and just after, so that is settling down & she found straight after the op that peppermint tea helped with the gas.
Its difficult but we can see the start of changes to see her two days straight no pain is unheard of, so it is so worth having it done.
Everyone is different but some of the tips from other people on here really helped us cope and look to other options & the Dr's have been good at the new hospital A&E.
Rest up don't over do it after the op and listen to your body when your tired sleep.
you will get through this and you will feel so much better once fully recovered.

I feel so sorry for her to have to go through all of that. how long did she have to wait for surgery Im 28 and ive been waiting for months for my surgery ive got a date for the 2nd of march but they are trying to get me in as an emergancy so might be quicker and hopefully it will be so i can start to get better. Im so happy your daughter is feeling alot better now. How long did she have gallstones for and what were her symptoms when she had them? I have lots of gallstones and have had a mrcp done to see if any are in a bile duct but im still waiting for results. I also get alot of symptoms with my gallstones i get right side upper pain that radiates to lower stomach pain and also radiates to my back upper and lower. I also get very tired and weak almost like flu type feelings aswell. I cant hardly eat anything now and have been put on low fat to no fat diet and no dairy but i still feel ill everyday even when i eat low fat to no fat foods hopefully my op will go well aswell and thankyou for the information about the surgery xx

Hi Carmella
Bless you it's horrible & very understated for all the pain & illness it causes.
She suffered for 3 years Drs said she was attention seeking & wouldn't believe her. In the end I took her private she had a gallbladder fat functioning test 20/12 & that showed it only working at 16% but no gallstones apparently it not functioning is just as bad as it collapses, swells & blocks.
She saw her surgeon the 5thJan & was down for surgery on the 9/2, but she also went on the cancellation list & had it done on the 26/1.
I don't think anything can prepare you for gallbladder, hiatus hernia or acid reflux issues they are all independently horrible & cause you so much pain.
Being on the cancellation list gave her hope & she did get in earlier.
She slept a lot prior to surgery & does after I think all the pain you are suffering takes its toll and she says she is drained with nothing left that's how she feels.
If your in pain go to A&E as many times as you have to before your surgery, they know what you need to have done and they know how Paiute is so at least they can give you pain relief that will work.
Don't suffer.
All the pain symptoms and areas are where she gets it before and after as it has to settle back down.
She has now had 3 days of no intense pain but aches all over due to the op & normal recovery going on.
I feel for everyone going through this it's awful to watch let alone actually be the person going through it.
Thank goodness you have been diagnosed the bike ducts is one thing they said it could be with her if it doesn't settle down but I'm hoping it will.
Hang in there but don't suffer when hospital can get you through the really bad episodes easily.
X
