I am 5 weeks and 1 day post op for anterior and posterior repair of pelvic floor. Starting to manage much more, doing more light household tasks, on my feet much more, but still taking it easy, no more nippy feelings and no spot bleeding. Swelling down a little and only a little uncomfortable down below. Doing a little and resting lots, but definitely feels much different from last week.
Sun is shining but still to cold to sit out, and daffodils are dancing in three breeze, can't wait for summer. Missing my swimming and cycling, not sure if I will be able to return to cycling at 12 weeks post op, my teenager is eyeing up my bike as she is too big for her own now!
Fed up reading and watching films, need to find something new to do.
Cut bank my lactose to 5 ml twice a day , works if I remember to take before breakfast and dinner. Doing my pelvic floor exercises 3 times a day (10 quick, 10 long), will start to add another to take me to 4 times a day.
Still not hovering, mopping, ironing or doing heavy washing loads will leave that till week 7/8. Be good if we could fast forward time and by pass recovery.
Have my GP check next week to see if I am ready for light office work or leaving return till 12 weeks, also got a wedding a week on Fri, dreading hos I'm going to be after hours of standing/ sitting about, will stay for ceremony and meal but will then head home. Will probably put me back some, but don't want to look like I'm snubbing them!
Hope you are all making good progress too, and good luck too those still waiting for op, and please take things easy, those who rake it easy and rest plenty seem to recover quickest as you can't rush recovery.

I had meeting with my boss arouns2/3 weeks, it really took it out me , gave them my recovery leaflet hospital gave me. We agreed would see how I am at 6 weeks and as soon as I spoke to my GP and if she agreed it would be OK to return to light office work, they would see if they had anything they could offer. If they have nothing light like that they know it is going to be 12 weeks before i can return to opersting and sitting at till, and then their's the bag packing to worry about.
I am to phone as soon as seen by GP.
Appointment o wedrensday, GP not rely specialised enough to make that decision and I can only sit at most for 2/3 hours and walk at most 20/30 mins.
Have also been summon by occupational health on Monday, my hubby is again going to have to take the day off with loss of income to take me there. I don't see how I can tell them anything more than I already have. Plus the letter wording sounds like it's more for someone who has been long term on sick for depression, how crazy is that?

Do you if the occupational health staff are knowlegable enough and properly trained in recovery from pelvic floor surgery?

So to answer your question no I would doubt the staff will have much knowledge of pelvic floor surgery only what they have read or remembered from their training so don't be intimidated in any way if they say you should be ok to return to work at any particular time. Just tell them you'll discuss it with your GP who is looking after you. They may ask about you going back on reduced hours but in my experience that never works because you end up staying behind if your colleagues are busy. Keep reiterating that you will discuss this with your GP.

I suggest to ask for the maximum sick leave. Maybe you feel well now that you are resting a lot at home, but for my experience, I can say that if you come back to work very soon, you will step back and feel very tired.Ā
As for the cycling, as my physio told me, it is a no impact sport, so you will be able to do it when your dr or physio give their permission. Everything you can do to strength your legs, it is good for pelvic floor, but be sure it is safe, no impact activity.Ā
Big hugsssss!Ā

Thanks matron, as soon as my discharge has competent gone will get straight to swimming pool, will try get every other day. Will keep your advise on cycling in mind.
Hoping that my GP will have had some kind of report from my consultant by now, and will know the extent of my repair this time as my work has been quoting recovery time from 6 weeks and may offer light office work if they have any available.
Do you think she will be able to advise or will I have to try and get in touch with consultant?
