Feeling Nauseous

Posted , 5 users are following.

i took my Citalopram 20mg at 8am today (I'm at wk 5), but have been feeling really sick all morning. Don't know whether the nauseous feeling is making me more anxious or its the anxiety that's making me feel sick. Anyone else experience this ?

As was mentioned, ADs, especially SSRI, cause nausea. I have had nausea all the time (since middle January). But still able to eat.

i thought once you got used to the tablets the sickness would get less.

I thought so as well. Right now I cannot confirm that. Anyway, as I mentioned, it is really mild nausea and I can eat almost normally.

Everybody is different. And after 5 weeks your body may still be getting used to the meds.

Speak to your doctor about this.  Maybe she can prescribe a anti-nausea medication when these symptoms happen - especially since you've been on citalopram for 5 weeks.

i took an omeprazole this morning, so not sure if that maybe interacted with the citalopram. I searched on google and it said they are not a good combination.

Citalopram did nothing for me, but I'm feeling nauseous starting Prozac. It makes my anxiety worse definitely.

Just did a drug interaction check on it and it interacts. Looks like it makes it stronger

Hi Tonia, I googled drug interactions also and that's what I read, but according to my dr he said there would be no problems, but I'm not happy taking the omeprazole with the Citalopram so will have to speak to dr again.

Good luck getting him to believe you. I found out almost 7 years ago by searching the internet that I was going through withdrawals from stopping the omeprazole and I had been taking the clonazepam for years too. What it does is it raises the levels through a certain enzyme and when I stopped the omeprazole my clonazepam levels plummeted. Therefore I went into withdrawals. The omeprazole keeps you from absorbing nutrients because there is no acid to break down the food. My ferritin level was a 7!!!! Suppose to be at least a sixty. I had to get IV iron weekly for a while. My hair was falling out like crazy. If you need anything for reflux they say protonix is ok to use, but they don't find out these things until later on. I use Zantac and space it 2 hours from my meds. It's ridiculous some of these doctors and pharmacists don't know this.

I don't really need omeprazole as I don't have stomach problems, dr just put me on them because I take a low dose aspirin every day, so I'm just going to stop taking the omeprazole now. Interesting that u say ur hair fell out, I'm finding that my hair is doing this too.......meds I hate them, wish I didn't need to take any. My dr is very young and it does make u wonder if the lack of experience can be dangerous in some instances.
