Feeling really poorly

Having a really bad day today.

My back has been killing me and I feel like every limb is full of lead.

I've been talking cocodamol 8/500 and ibuprofen but nothing seems to be easing the constant ache.

Really fed up and don't know what to do :-(

I feel like no one at work or my husband understands

I'm sorry your feeling that way, I to am experiencing alot of muscle cramps and aches today in both my legs and arms, my feet/heels have also been bothering me for a few days as well.   My husband sort of understands what I'm going through but I get this feeling sometimes he thinks I'm trying to avoid house duties.   I have only been given robaxin 1 in the am and 1 in the pm which helps for the 1st hour and that's it .      Hope your day gets better , try to rest when you can.

There are still constant medical debates on the exact cause of fibromyalgia. Some are leaning toward an autoimmune disease others are insistent that it is a nervous system dysfunction. Based on my experience I believe it somehow both.

Some days if I take a singulair, my fibro symptoms are alleviated to the point where I can have a decent day. Other days the allergy medication doesn't help but camomile tea does, which relaxes the nerves and muscles. HOWEVER, I may have something else going on so don't try allergy meds please.

Any herb or tea to calm your body is good. Chamomile tea is not only detoxifying but it relaxes you relaxes your muscles and/or nerves. There have been many nights I woke up screaming only to have a really strong cup of tea and then slept like a baby.

painkillers used on a regurlar basis only succeds in causeing more pain .

like people who take them for headaches after awhile the headaches become worse and you need more to get the same relief its just a vicious circle look into other ways

if you rely on your gp your just end up with stronger and stronger meds and become pharmcy drug addict . lol

Using pain meds does NOT make you an addict. I worked for a methadone clinic for years.

Addiction is an inherent neurochemical imbalance in your brain. You're either born with it or not. Some people with low levels of dopamine can abuse drugs but addiction is still a whole different ball game.

However, all narcotic meds mess with your metabolic system, nervous system, your biochemistry and depress your organ systems...which can disable you in other ways.

if this is the case then why is it they have warnings on some pain meds to only use for 3 days as may become addictive .

and why is it that peopel who have been on pain meds for along time cant come of them with out nasty side effects.

It is a physical addiction. Your body gets used to it and can have negative reactions to suddenly stopping. Same thing happens with at least half of the medications out there. That still does not make you a drug addict if you are a pain patient. Same thing happens with antidepressants. By your logic, anyone who takes Prozac is a drug addict.

      Hello Tina,

Absolutely, my Gp does not advocate stronger meds, he thinks CBT will help. Just have to trust him for now. Meanwhile I aam trying Epsom salt baths, Grapeseed extract and magnesium. I only take amitrypilene which helps with my sleep.

      Take care, Anne

Sometimes the only thing is a day or two of rest. Just doing nothing..

continue to take meds but be kind to urself there are some days our bodies just refuse to work those days accept it a day for rest.

most people who DONOT have this really can't imagine the pain and agony we have to deal with on a daily basis no matter how hard we try to justify our illness there are always going to be those who don't care.

i think UR hubby as mine was very resentful at first. He was not adjusting well to my limitations at first until I had him join me at a dr appt he then realized the importance of his acceptance of my illness.  He now has a much better understanding... Thanks to my dr.

      Hello,

I agree wholeheartedly, a day of rest. This is the only way I can cope! Partner is doing really well to understand this, only taken him 2 years.

So just to keep on making people understand this

      Take care, Anne

I;m taking pain killers Cocodomol 30/500 and I take 2 ( yes my pain is unbearable).

I was taking 2 every 6 hours, but since seeing neurologist and been prescribed gebapentin, I have reduced these to 2 at night around 9pm.  I don't know if the gebapentin is the answer but something is working.  This is a first trial of medication since being diagnosed so when I go back in November, I'll know more.  I don't feel 100% but I know I won't with fibromyalgia but it does seem to control the body aching and the pains which helps me get about and work.  Luckily I work from home as an accountant so I don't have to travel or do manual work because I know I wouldn't be able to do so if I had that type of job.

If you could ask your GP to increase the dose of the codiene from 8 to 15 to start with it might just be enough to work a little better for you.

I empathise with, I really do because I know the pain in unbearable and ruins your daily life.  Don't get down, keep strong and make sure your doctor knows you need his help on this.

    Hi Arual,

I agree with andrea you should maybe try a stronger dose of co-codamol. I take 15/500 and they work just fine for me, I understand however that everyone responds differently to meds and maybe its trial and error for you until you're comfortable. I have tried pregablin, gabapentin, amytriptyline and tramadol, they all disagreed with me leaving me zombied or dizzy and with amytriptyline, I had an allergic reaction (tongue and lip swelling). I hope you feel better over the weekend and have an enjoyable rest from work. Kind regards Angie x

    Hello.

I understand how you feel. I today are feeling awful, throbbing from head to foot. I have been taking regular doses of Oramorph, it just eases the pain a little. I certainly have no energy to do anything. Best Regards Anne
