Feeling scared

Posted , 3 users are following.

About month ago started peeing blood lasted about 8 hrs. Ended up was infection but because was so much blood sent me for bladder scope was clear apart from redness they say from infection. Now done ultra sound for kidneys no results yet. I've got health anxiety and now have pain under ribs and round my side. I'm so scared I have cancer. Doc checked bloods and everything normal red and white cells kidney liver etc. But I'm still scared can't sleep or eat. Someone talk to me.

It's sounds like everything's fine - the infection obviously was nasty and caused the issues. It's good they've checked everything and anything suspect would of shown up in your blood results so try not to stress. You know you have health anxiety so it's just your mind playing tricks, the pain could well be manifested by your anxiety. I had side pains and convinced myself that my spleen was rupturing - I had a scan and the pain went when they told me I had normal results. I think our minds are much more powerful than we give them credit for.

Let's us know how you get on but in sure you will be just fine X

Yeah your probably right as if I'm out or have friends here I don't feel the pain. It's the first thing I think about when I wake and the last thing I think about before trying to sleep. It's been 4 days since scan and I just keep thinking if something was wrong they would have contacted me as had a relative who got bad news but was told very next day. Thankyou for reply it helps to talk to people. X

a  little blood in your urine just means a bladder or kidney infection not cancer so stop your worrying

I'm sure they would have contacted you if there was a problem - remember, you know you have anxiety - that is all it is. Xx

Sounds like you had a very bad urine infection - you've been scoped - and I assure you that if it WAS cancer they'd have found it with the scope.

If it was cancer, you'd still be seeing a lot of blood in you pee. Cancer doesn't hurt in the early stages, and even if it did, the pain under your ribs and round the side is not a symptom of bladder cancer.

If all your blood tests were also normal, you haven't got cancer.

So accept that this is your anxiety reaching a new high, and call your doctor for the results of the ultrasound on your kidneys. PLEASE come back and tell us how you're doing.      love Tess

Thank you test after a night that felt so long. I'm terrified I've started to loose weight even though I'm eating but my husband says it's nerves from being so wound up. I have a little girl who suffers from severe anxiety and just wonder if it was something serious then how would she cope :-(

Work becoming an issue as don't want to do it. I feel helpless. Surley if was anything wrong would have got in contact by now last wed was my scan and know someone who got bad news very next day. My head says stop being stupid but every thing that's happening I can link to kidney cancer as I have Googled it so much. HELP!!

Carole - I'm sure you are fine. They would have called. In sorry this is so difficult for you and i truly understand. It's easy to spot others anxiety rather than your own. Making judgements is hard but in sure you are fine - tell the receptionist you are going out of your mind with worry and they might speed it up for you X

I'm not sure why a radiologist would say that!?

Think about it, all scans are checked initially and double checked by consultants. The radiologist would take a suspect scan very quickly to a consultant to highlight any problems - I'm sure you are fine.

      Google is our worst enemy!!

Yes, why did you, Carole? I am so upset that you're going through this and feeling awful 24/7.

But googling anything, in my experience, only muddies the waters. Someone will have proved something - then someone else proves that actually the first someone was wrong.

My husband is diabetic. For liver disease, lactulose has been recommended by someone on this site. Our GP said NO!!! Lactulose is pure sugar!!!!!

So I googled it and guess what? The medical profession are split down the middle. Some said it wouldn't harm him, despite the diabetes, and others said DON'T TOUCH IT.

I gave up at that point and my husband ended the conversation by telling me that years ago, in hospital with a broken leg, they gave him lactulose for constipation. And then he said he wouldn't take it if his life depended on it because the taste is so disgusting that it made him retch. Case closed.

Carole, I'm a nurse, as I said in an earlier post, and I can assure you that anything very serious, such as cancer, is always discussed with the patient as quickly as possible, so that treatment can be started.

Getting some anti-anxiety medication from your GP will help to calm you down. Make the appointment. You're worrying needlessly, but that is what severe anxiety does to people, unfortunately.

Please keep us posted, Carole. You're not alone.
