Feeling sorry for myself so just checking in

Hi

I'm 15 weeks post TKR and i have so much pain today is like going back weeks!

My actual knee is not swollen but very sore but also the shin, calf and thigh above the front of the knee hurt like crazy. I have a big swelling on the back of the knee. (Not a baker's cyst) and an even bigger swelling at the bottom of my hamstrings.

It's like terrible toothache pain in my leg. I've taken paracetamol and ibuprofen together and massaged with voltaren.

I'm just looking for sympathy i guess. Just having a bad day sad

Hang in there.  I'm 4 weeks post  and some of those nights have been miserable. All I know is that I have to get up and get circulation going, move to the couch and ice and elevate, or I will get no relief at all.  I think I would be an easy candidate for torture and would tell them anything they wanted to hear.  I would let my guys know this going in so they  would know to give me only the most mundane, useless information.    Take care and I hope it gets better.

We're at similar times, healing wise (mine was done on the 28th October) - this past week has been awful - just when I thought there was a light at the end of that tunnel too - so I know exactly what you mean. I keep thinking I can cut the meds out - then realise I can't as pain strikes once again. I have been ill since Tuesday, with a painful sinus infection - so I don't know which pain area to try & help! Hang on in there - we'll get there!

Hang on Suzy at 15weeks I had some really bad pains and felt as if I was going backward instead of forward. I am now at 61/2 months and am feeling so much better, you will get there but it's a long hard road, chin up x

Thanks everyone. It's very comforting to know what's happening is normal and that it will get better. If my other knee dares to so much as twinge I'll chop it off rather than go through this again.

I'm with you there! I'm supposed to be having the other knee done - they gave me the choice as I was being wheeled down to theatre - thank goodness I opted for the right knee, as far as I'm concerned, the worse of the two, as I am NEVER going to have the left knee done!

I feel exactly the same. If I get prorblems with my other knee, it's a top of the range motorised wheelchair for me!  nelems you are getting at fifteen weeks?  shouldn't you perhaps consult your specialist just in case?  Hope you are soon better again!'t it rather extreme the probver again . . I really admire people going back in for the second knee operation.  On the other hand, isn

I can't imagine voluntarily having both knees done simultaneously unless there were extenuating circumstances.  I really think one is enough fun.  Or at least one at a time.

My friends mother, who is over 70, had a bilateral TKR - I cannot imagaine how she coped! When I had mine done, just one knee, she was offering advice & comfort!! I kept wondering how she managed to go to the toilet - how she managed to get dressed etc etc - she is a widow too.
