Feeling very fed up

I am 32 with an undiagnosed nerve problem I think? I woke up one day to find that the left hand side of my body felt tired and had a tingling sensation going through my veins, I went to hospital where I was checked for a stroke after mris, cat scans and numerous go and neurologist visits they can not find a reason. This was over a year ago.I have 2 young children and work, but sleeping is a thing of the past as I just can't get comfortable my body goes numb followed by pins and needles. All GPS say is the tests are fine, and that maybe it is stress related? I have a hectic life i am a young married working mum of 2! But doesn't explain why one day I was fine the next I wasn't? If it is in my head (basically what doc saying) why? I am starting to feel very alone as others seem to have a name for there problem why haven't I??

Hello Debbie, I think you are having a very stressful life with work and bringing up two children. Not easy for you.

I think you would find Amitryptiline very helpful for you. It is best to take it at night because it will make you feel sleepy.  You will feel a little tired next morning and you may have a dry mouth. For the dry mouth use a sugar free sweet. After a while the drowsiness will deminish.

Hello Debbie, I am sorry your suffering with this undiagnosed pain. Amitriptyline is often prescribed not as an anti depressant but for nerve pain. This drug works on the nerves to help them relax. I was prescribed this for nerve pain. It helps with sleep, thou it can make you quite tired the next morning. I hope you find the answers to your pain soon.

    Hi Debbie

I know how you feel as I get same problem but haven't got answers after test

Only difference is my started after bad slip

Have you seen a neurologist as yet

I fully believe that unless a nerve or vein is fully damaged them Mri's and scans don't pick up fine damaged areas

There is a switch somewhere that specialist have yet to discover as neuropathic pain is only just starting to get recognizability in the courts as doctors just send you off because they don't know but kindly take your money then want to send you to a thrink

I fully understand how you feel but unless someone experience it they don't believe you

    Are you on any meds

Wow Philip, your story sounds like mine. This Neurapathy thing is a horrific nightmare. Mine started with a crick in my next, once healed left me with a very crooked neck and popping shoulder. My Neurapathy pain started just a month ago, but at times is miserable. The more I get stressed, the more it bothers me, the burning, tingling , the shooting pain in the feet and hands, and muscle twitching. I can only lay on my back at night, laying on either side kicks it off. The sad thing about it, is I basically feel good with the exception of the nerve pain. It can be very depressing.

      Hey kenny

How long after did the neuropathic pain start with the tingling form the crick in your neck ?

I only mainly get mine down left side and starts up like flicking on a switch it I turn my head to left side more so while laying on my back

Do you have to take any pain killers for it

      Are you in Australia ?

Hey Philip, my crick was actually 8 or so months ago. The Neurapathy started about a month ago. It may not be associated with the crick, but I know my neck is visibly crooked, and I have discomfort and popping in the shoulder where the crick was in my neck. I read about ST. Johns wart liquid and magnesium and potassium and B12. I never hurt while setting still. When I grip something my fingers ache like artheritis and so do my feet after walking. My discomfort comes from burning, tingling, twitching muscles in my arms, hands and fingers as well as my feet and toes. I don't understand it. I feel well. My energy is good, my appetite is good, my color is good, but I have obvious nerve impingement. I feel that it somehow has something to do with the crooked neck and shoulder. I live in southern Texas. My family keeps trying to get me to go to a Chiropractor. I've never been to one.

Hi Debbie can I suggest you go and see a really good chiropractor, if you get a good one they are fantastic, it's sounds like you could have a trapped nerve and this is what they do best, it can't hurt to give it a try. If you do sometimes you can feel worse for a day or two so stick with it. Please let me know how you get on, good luck 😊
