Feeling very scared

I had a barium swallow 5 weeks ago still no results. I rang the specialist secretary who said oh yes I can see something but I’m not medically trained so not sure what it is it doesn’t look sinister but if she’s not trained how does she know? She said I should receive a letter from the specialist to see him again. She said it could be gastritis so worried any advice would be appreciated 😞

If it was serious they would have told you already - they wouldn’t be waiting this long or writing to you

I would phone again and tell them I’m going away and need an appointment or must have doctor return my call -

Thank you for your quick reply 😊 They said my specialist has been away for 3 weeks that’s why there’s been a delay so was worried that he’s not looked at it yet. Yes I guess I’m being paranoid but I suffer with an autoimmune disease as well and have so may different symptoms. Once again thank you

I have to say I'm amazed the secretary had access to your results and then gave you a half hearted result. For a start the information on your medical file is confidential between you and your medical team and would not include a secretary who is not qualified. Also, you are now more worried after receiving that info from his secretary. I would seriously question this set up as it seems very unprofessional and would look forward second opinion elsewhere.

Sorry Shelly that should read look for a second opinion, also, if anything serious was wrong I'm sure you would have heard by now.
