Hi Wendy...I've had fibroids for many years. No period for a year now. My gyn of more than 20 years wasn't concerned about those at my yearly check up in June. He perscribed Provera to induce a bleed. Thickening uterine lining is his focus.

Yes, Wendi...I have a few small ones and I large one. Had a test called a hysteroscopy back in July to make sure everything else was alright. Doc said to keep pads handy because they will bleed whenever they feel like it, such a fun thing to hear at 59.

Not sure when I got my uterine fibroid but they found it probably when my menopause ended. It can happen to a few people. I think it depends how far your estrogen drops. The less estrogen the more chance the fibroid will shrink. Mine actually started to grow a bit which sort of freaked me out but I think that had to do with my HRT.

If it starts to get too big there is a new type of treatment where they use sound waves or something to break it up instead of digging out. My is so intertwined that it would cause more damage to remove. My obgyn went in when my other surgeon went in to remove my gall bladder. He did not remove it because he did not want to cause too much damage and he knew I wanted to keep my uterus.
