Hi around 3 years ago I was diagnosed with 5 small fibroids ,gyno didn't do much as said were to small so just gave me tablets to help with pain after other painful problems near ovaries I had laparoscopic surgery last week for two inguinal hernias I also asked if he could take a look at my fibroids after op he said he saw the outside of a fibroid around size of a small Apple ,I've since started my period and it's very painful I'm so fed up with the pain as thought this op would be the end to my problems ,I'm due to see gyno end if July but I'm not sure wether to go see my doctor first see if he can get me a scan before as I'm pretty sure that's what consultant will do ,I know people are going through a lot worse than me but it's really getting me down has anyone been through similar who can help thanks x

Hi. I can't really offer advice as I'm also waiting to see what will happen. I just wanted to offer support - fibroids are very distressing. They cause pain and bloating let alone tiredness and mental unrest. So don't feel bad about feeling the way you do. Go to the doc - better it's sorted now!! Good luck x

Don't delay too much longer.I would ring your hospital and ask to speak to your consultants secretary for their help.I thought that I had a hernia last Sept, went to my dr and got a shock to find out that i had several fibroids and 1 was about 20 cm

I had to have injections for 3 months. It was one a month. The first was Zolodex which I had at the hospital given to me by my consultant and the next 2 were at by surgery. They didn't do Zolodex but they had Prostap which is the same thing. They were meant to reduce the size of the fibroids, make the surgery easier and prevent a blood transfusion. The op went well,I wasn't in much pain and I am now 11 weeks post op and returned to work part time 2 weeks ago.

Hi it does get you down until you get to the stage of not wanting to put up with it anymore. My fibroids were hurting each month and constant bleeding for 15 months. I had a hysterectomy 12 months ago and to be honest it was the best thing i could have done to be rid of it all. Maybe they can deal with yours another way but hysterectomy was really my only option. The scan i had was ultrasound and it's usually an internal probe as it's the best way to see the fibtoids. Talk it through with your doctor x

    hi,

may i ask how your hernias were spotted.

i'm wondering if you had any signs on the outside that you had hernias and was the pain related to the fibroids or hernias.

it seems you still have pain though your hernias were repaired.

the reason i ask is that i am still searching for a reason for my pelvic pain after three and half years of tests in different departments with all clear on everything.

    its very frustrating.

    how old are you?

25 years ago when i was 43 i had heavy periods and pain all the days of the month.

the gynno diagnosed fibroids and i got my hysterectomy appointment for 4 months later.

by then i was better so never bothered to have my op.

i wish now that i'd gone through with it.

at least it would narrow down the options for a diagnosis of my pain.

to be honest i've been prescribed 'Tryptizol.' which is a sedative cum painkiller, so i'm not as frantic as i was before.

this thursday i have an appointment with digestivo specialist to give me results of 2 tests i had end of feb.

to be fair i was told if it was anything sinister they would have let me know straight away.

    hey ho.

Hi chica I was being seen by gyno a few years ago about painful periods after an internal scan they found about 4 very small fibroids they said they would be causing the bad pain as so small so gave me tablets to help with pain about 6 months later I want back as was getting a pain near my left ovary ,they did think I had endometriosis to. Start with but after an injection for 3 months to bring on temporary menopause that didn't stop ovary pain they said it couldn't have been endometriosis ,he examined me and referred me to a surgeon as he said it felt tender for a possible hernia after a scan they found a hernia consultant said it was small but may be why I was getting pain had the operation last week and found two inguinal hernias one on each side I didn't have any lumps but he said some hernias are hidden and the small ones can be more painful especially in women as can be sitting on nerve etc ,because he did keyhole with a camera I asked if he would be able to check fybroids that's when he noticed the outside of a fibroid that he said around the size of a small Apple ,since January my periods have been even more painful but I put it down to the hernia but now think it may be because fibroid has grown ,so going to get a scan before I see gyno in July to see what's happening ,perhaps yours have grown when did you last have them scanned ? Hope it goes ok Thursday x

      hi to you and lorilli,

you know the way i,ve been getting tossed from digestive depts to gynno and back, well yesterday i had my results for 2 tests i had 4 months ago with the digestivos.

      barium enema and ct scan.

      all clear.

the gynnos know i have fibroids but will not accept thats my pain source.

i recently had a polypectomy for a 2mm polyp in my uterus.

      my problems are no different.

the srgeon told me my ovaries are in good shape.

for gods sake they must have humped my fibroids out of the way to see them as none of the scans could see my ovaries..

its not as though i need my lady gizzards at 67.

so this digestivo 'kid' put me on antispasmodics to help with the pain.

if i am being honest, the pain is noway as bad as it was at the onset three and half years ago.

i'm frustrated. on one hand i think i'll see if it gets better.

on the other hand i dont want a hysterectomy when i'm geriatric.

the  7 gynnos i've seen say the pain is IBS as my fibroids are dead and the 1 and only private gynno tells me i need a hysterectomy.

ok i'm in spain but whats the chances of getting same diagnosis anywhere else.

oh f... .t i'm going to the playa..!
