Finally having a hysterectomy

Hi. I've been suffering with my periods for bout 15 years and found out I had submuscal fibroid. I had a transcervical resection last year in Dec 2014 but they didn't shave all of it off??? I was spose to be having a coil fitted but the surgeon said there was no room for it??? I am now waiting for a hysterectomy cos it's either that or another resection. I'm quite nervous but cannot wait to get my life back on track. How long really will my recovery be? Not sure if im having a vaginal or amdomen procedure as yet??

Just had an ABH & BSO and fibroids removed 4 weeks ago.You can't lift anything too heavy for 6 weeks. They say about 3 months recovery. There is a weekly recovery plan on the hysterectomy association website but i was doing some of the week 3/4 jobs during the first week.I came out of hospital on a Fri and was out and about thw folliwing Mon.I was a bit slow walking for about 10 days after but then there was no stopping me.I have done a lot of jobs but no hoovering yet.I can bend down, stretch up to reach things and go up the stairs at normal pace.Every one recovers differently but i think it is where i started walking quite a bit early on.Don't just sit around too long.I am off work at the moment until June 8th but i feel that i am on a long holiday and enjoying getting out and about. If i can help in any other way please let me know.

    Take care

I hate being cooped (being in hospital no exception) I got home on a Thursday morning after 3 nights in hospital and by the afternoon I was out walking my 2 dogs, albeit only in the private copse at the back of my house, dogs running loose so no tugging leads, my neighbour came running out asking me what the heck I was doing LOL.
