Hi there, so I have finally hit the 5 weeks mark on 30mg. I have noticed some positive. But my biggest issues is I wake up feeling very anxious every morning and last about 3 hours, then goes away after I take my pill than seems to return back in the evening. Has anyone had this should I take my pill to a different time, just bugs me a lot and then I put my self into an anxiety attack. Also I seem to be very shaky, any one else go threw this at 5weeks. I feel that I am so close to feeling great don't wanna give up now. But these morning are really messing with me. And help would be great.

Sorry to hear your bad experience with these pills. I don't feel bad all the time, just this morning thing is really getting to me. My other side effects have seem to gone like, and the muscle tensions in my legs sucks also don't know how to pass that, just super annoying. And the fact the I wake up right away in the morning then I feel like I am on speed and just wanna run around, than as usual I put my self into anxiety mode than crash. I just hope this passes, I am totally over it, I just wanna wake up and feel normal. Maybe that my problem I am just so desperate for the pill to work, that I am expecting too much.

Lol so true, I go to bed at night and just think tomorrow is gonna be the day lol that day has yet to come. Guess I shouldn't complain too much at least my panic attacks are gone. I am just totally not keen on the anxious feeling when I wake up and muscle tension. I wonder if I could take something so that my legs would not feel so tight, it's just super annoying when ure standing and it feels so weird, I remember standing at a grocery store and I kept on moving my legs cause the feeling was so weird and kind of annoying. Than again put my self into anxiety cause I think something else is wrong, lol. I have really bad dry mouth too but seems like gum does the trick for that.

I would probably take 10 for a week and move to 20 so u do t get more side effects. The fact that u were taking them for 3 months and no improvement I am even wondering if the the ssri is working for u, u may have to change the drug type or try 30mg. When I was at my doctors she told me that if I am at week 7 and I am still off and can't function like I should, it's best to change and I should of noticed change by now. I was there on 20 before too but was noticing that I was still having anxiety and panic attacks so moved me to 30mg too see if I needed more. So now I am waiting for week 7 too see if it will change. Me being so anxious in the morning scares me though, as from what I ready that seems to be a very rare side effect, but I am sure because I have such bad luck I'll get stuck with the worse side effects.

Hi Sanja
I have just come off cit.....day 5 now.....have started venoflaxine.
I stuck out over 5 months with the dose going up to 40mg and my anxiety just got worse and the side effects were intolerable. I felt better again once I got to 10mg. Now I think I am having slight withdrawal but feel better than when I was on 20mg plus. It I'd too early to tell if the swap will work but I am glad to be rid of the cit. It is a good drug if it works for you but it does not work for everyone. I would give it at least 8 weeks maybe more.
It is all about weighing the side effects against the benefits. Some are lucky and that is an easy choice as they have minimal side effects and they feel well others have a harder choice to make.
My advice is to stick with it a bit longer as a med swap is really hard but don t just keep increasing the dose as it will not help at this stage. That was a mistake I made.
All the best x

Thanks for your reply Sara. What I am wondering though is did I jump to 30 too fast. I went to doc because I was feeling the anxiety and didn't wanna drive no more and leaving the house was a drag. I was on 20 for about 5 months but was able to function, now on 30 yes the panic attacks are gone. But I am lazy tired super anxious in the morning and this muscle tension in my legs is severely annoying lol. I just hope that I made the right decision going to 30 and that it wasn't just me having a bad month, because the great thing about internet you read so much and makes me wonder lol, did u feel very anxious too?

Hi Santa,
Can you describe what your legs feel like? Mine are terrible and I don't know whether it's the tablets or Restless Leg Syndrome but it's driving me mad

I love the santa lol. How Long you been on the meds? My legs feel like I've had like a 20km jog, they just feel like they have been really worked out, and when I try to stand I want to bend them because the feeling just don't feel right. Than at night I seem to move them around a lot something's I also get twitches pins and needles etc, I can't stand the feeling. I just took one Advil to see if it would help. From what I have read seems like muscle tension can be one of the side effects. I've had it though 5 weeks should be gone.

Wow, I can't believe someone else has the same crappy.leg feelings as me !
I've been on citalopram 20mg for 4 mths now and have had awful insomnia - waking every hour etc and long periods of wakefulness. Obviously this leaves me shattered some days. The leg situation has steadily got worse and have had it to some degree all the time I've been on citalopram. My gp added amitriptyline (v.small dose) to try and improve my sleep which it has but now my legs wake me up!!
Right, now to my legs ! The feeling ranges from intense aching in my thighs and knees which can come on at any time but mostly late evening right through to the next day. When this eases I am left with soreness in my legs as if they're sunburnt and tingling, fizzing pins and needles which can be all over. To be honest it feels like I'm plugged into an electric socket!!
I've come so far on citalopram I really don't want to give it up but I have heard that it can cause restless leg syndrome or make it worse.
What do you do to ease it cause painkillers don't help.at all. A warm bath with Epsom salts helps and a hot Wheat pack helps but just cause it changes the sensation.

Yeah it's been a long haul, I am gonna give it another week and head back to doctors if I don't see any better changes, as I think being on them for 6 weeks and no improvements see what they say maybe I need an increase or decrease Dont know. Has the pill helped u at all besides the sleep and legs? If so how long did it take to work guess I am just getting really frustrated that I am at 5 weeks and still feeling like complete lump. I still don't wanna leave the house get all anxious etc

Yes I'm definitely loads better in myself. It took a while for the terrible anxiety to start to ease. Morning anxiety was the last thing to go . Like I said it's just the insomnia and terrible aching legs which are the problem now.
I couldn't face changing to a new media and going through all the horrendous side effects with no guarantee that things will improve

Oh that's eases my mind a bit my morning anxiety is so horrible I hate it than ruins my whole day. But I guess just hitting the 5 weeks mark I shouldn't expect to be all better. When did u finally notice that the anxiety was gone. I know some people have said they just wake up and completely feel normal like they never had anxiety. Fingers crossed that will happen to me this week. As they do say 6 to 8 weeks when the meds work.

Oh that morning anxiety - an horrific and frightening experience, I never ever want to go through that again. It just got milder and the days became more normal but I can't really remember for how long, perhaps dwindling over a couple of months . It became manageable and the intensity reduced but once I got it into my head it would go after an hour or two I coped better with it.
It's really very hard to explain to someone what it feels like unless they've been through it. I had to resort to taking diazepam for a few weeks in order to cope. I've had a few mild feelings of anxiety over Christmas and a bit of an iffy feeling first thing but nothing too difficult.
How are you today?

Yeah I can't stand the morning anxiety, freaks me right out. I still wake up with it, and that exactly what I tell my self few hours and it passes. Seems like now I can manage my anxiety better so I don't fully blow up in a panic. Today's been ok work up very anxious passed a few hours later. Than I got super tired. Still seem to be shaky a bit and my legs are just killing me. My appetite is All over the place too. I have really bad health anxiety so that worries me too. But I think I am seeing some improvements, but to busy still whining about the negatives I am getting now.

My terrible aching , fizzing legs are probably the main problem now. Today has been strange as it just feels like intense sunburn on my thighs and kneecaps- I'm rarely free of some strange feelings of pain or discomfort in my legs. Just can't bear to put myself through changing antidepressants

Oh I totally get what your saying. I don't know if I could handle changing to a different med and having to go threw everything again. Have to tried to intake more water? When mine get bad I out the cold rub on and hot I tried some Motrin yesterday and seemed to take a bit of the edge off.
