finnishing sertraline

Posted , 5 users are following.

i have posted on this site a few times to help people but not for myself i was wandering what to expect coming off of sertraline? heard some stories good and bad and was wandering what its like.

for those who have just started taking sertraline please stick with it i was going insane from being perfectly normal and playing rugby to being a wreck and after a month of some mental side affects it settled down and now am ready to come off them.

good luck everyone and hope use can give me some feedback.

Hi Boxy..I'm coming off them at the moment but doing it really slowly. Was on 75mg & went down to 50 for 2 weeks.  Then went down to 25mg for another 2 weeks. Doctor now has me on 25mg every second day for 10 days, then 25mg every third day for 10 days, then 25mg every fourth day and then hopefully stop! I can honestly say that I have not suffered any side effects really..bit of lightheadedness couple of days but it passed quickly. Also slight 'butterflies in tummy' once or twice but not bad & this passed too.  Obviously I don't know how it will be as I wean off further and come off them altogether but at the moment I'm doing ok so fingers crossed! Good luck to u with coming off them...the trick I think is do it very very slowly.

HiBoxy, I've been on 50mg for 7 months and never really had any side effects at the start or felt any real benefit from them.however since reading some posts on this web site I decided to come off them &never told my GP, thinking, how bad can it be? What a nightmare.I started off missing one day then taking my normal dose the next. Onthe second missed day, everything was totally pissing me off. Iwas like a firework & everything and everyone just seemed to be lighting my blue touchpaper.

By 2pm that afernoon I'd had enough &  was reaching for the little buggers again.

IT DOES MAKE YOU WONDER WHAT THEY'RE DOING TO YOU.

it affects people differently however i think everyone gets a side affect however the thing you need to think about is they dont last forever, i got a bit sweaty and more anxious but once it eases off this tablet is a god send it really does help so at least try them for a month and i wish you luck but i am sure you will be ok on them.
