The first outbreak is horrendous I won't lie.
I went through the exact same at my first diagnosis it is so painful, never without pain or discomfort and I felt tearful and depressed every minute of every day.
But it really does get better, it doesn't feel like it will but it does. I think my first outbreak was about 3 weeks total but as the antiviral medication starts to work and the sores scab over the pain gets less.
The bath is the most comfortable place you can be especially if you put epsom salts in it which will help dry the sores, peeing in the bath or shower is so much more comfortable...it sounds gross but needs must!
Do you have anyone with you for support? xx

I can understand that. I was lucky as I was with my now husband when I was diagnosed so I never has to go through dating and the thought of telling a new partner. But plenty of people do, I think the best thing you can do is to do a lot of research into the virus so you can reassure new partners and give them the facts.
I probably get a significant outbreak once a year and maybe a couple of very mild ones between those. But even the worse ones are absolutely nothing in comparison to the first one, they are so much easier to manage and the pain isn't anywhere near as bad. The rest of the time I completely forget I have it, so life does go back to normal I promise!
How are you feeling today? xx
