i have been prescribed flu due to stressful health issues . Reading comments on side effects I will probably forget about my health / anxiety issues which are undiagnosed as I will be to busy living on a new planet full of a million new issues to deal not really what I wanted after 4 months of hell . I was told 2 weeks and I would stop worrying so much and cope a lot better . Anyone took flu and just been OK coping with things as and when . Or is this a doctors version at clutching at straws as they don't know what is actually wrong physically with me .

I have been taking flouextine for 14 weeks, I was sceptical when I was prescribed and what bloody awful side effects BUT I stuck with it because I had too, my sanity was slowly slipping away I felt like I had been invaded by an alien.
Now although i still have slightly odd days I can honestly say I no longer obsess over my health, things I need to get done (or the world may end) I think rationally, yes I still get anxious in certain situations but I am more in control.
Take every day as it comes, don't focus on when you will feel better small steps and gradually you should begin to feel an improvement
Keep talking on here it is a fantastic way to shed your fears and share experiences

I didn't notice any change until 4 to 5th week in my mood and I am not going to lie but you will need a lot of determination to get through the side effects, the worse is nausea and no appetite for first 10 days, I also got
Tremors and strong urge to move my leg straight after taking flu tablet (weeks 1 to 3)
Waking g up around 2.30 am (still do that now)
Yawning (week 1 - 10)
Acid reflux (still got now)
Hives and itching skin (week 5)
Headache (week 2 - 8)
Lethargy & tired (week 1 to 9)
Bleeding gums (week 10 till now)
Funny taste in mouth (week 1 to week 6)
Easily bruise (week 1 till now)
Aching joints all over (week 1 to week 6)
Remember that some of the above could have been the anxiety itself and not side effects of flu but ask me would I do it all again? Yes because now I feel so much better & side effects have all but gone. Also remember that not everyone suffers the same with side effects

PositIves are I don't continually obsess about dying of cancer, feeling for lumps and bumps, crying for no reason, having to make sure the house is clean or ritual cleaning. I have even stopped obessing about losing weight (this started when I was 22 years old am now 49 years.
They have changed my life, I am more relaxed and life is in perspective, yes i have a few down or blip days but these are few and far between.
They are not for everyone but they were for me yes it was worth it, I am not depressed either but I did have severe anxiety and panic attacks

I am four weeks in first two were bad, anxiety, loss of appetite, weight loss, stomach and bowel problems, night sweats. Week 3 was a lot better and able to do a lot more and appetite came back and night sweats stopped. Week 4 some of symptoms back but this is normal and they don't last as long, mornings bad but as day goes they improve. Stick with them everything gradually gets better but if you have a blip in symptoms that's all it is a blip. It can take 4-6 weeks to feel more normal so just stick with it and don't stop I did with sertraline and ended up at square one again.
