Anyone else starting to take Citalopram?
I've just started today & have been reading side effects etc & starting to worry thought it would be a good idea to start a group for people new to the medicine so we can all talk about it?

My husband started it over a month ago. I thought he did great on it.. calmer and not so worrisome.. He too started reading side effects and then complained of headaches, etc.... I think he just didn't wanted to take it so he stopped. We are now trying Zoloft.
I would advise you to give it some time.. I've heard the first week or 2 is the hardest. If you truely believe it's not working for you, talk with your doctor.
Take care.

I was on that for a few months. I personally only had one side effect that effected me sexually. Other than that, very good med. It didn't help me personally, but it helps many on here. It heightened my anxiety on a daily basis, but I will say it made my panic attacks completely disappear.

Oh ok--- so Zoloft works well? He started it about 5 days ago and I can't tell a difference.. Maybe it's a slight difference.. He's not a relaxed person and is a worrier which affects his sleep. Just tonight he claims Zoloft that is making his knee hurt especially since he read that Zoloft may cause muscle tension. I think it's due to the weather.. Just hoping Zoloft will 'kick in' so he can relax..

My doctor gave me 20mg. 7 days I only take a half and then after the 7th day I can take the whole 20mg dose. I don't know if the side effects are in my head or real but it seems to make my racing heart worse. I've recently had a scare with my heart. The doctors have run numerous tests and the only thing they can find is that my HR is extremely high at times. I'm talking 160-185. Obviously the last thing I need to take is a medicine that's going to increase my heart rate, but at the same time I'm so desperate to get relief from my anxiety. I've taken it 7days at the half dose and I'm terrified to jump on the full dose next in case there really is a problem with my heart. But my pharmacist says it takes 4-6 WEEKS to even really get the benefits and get into your system. I don't know if I can hang on that long to see if it will even work. It's so frustrating to live with crippling anxiety, especially health anxiety. If my doctor said 'here is a magic pill that will cure you of your anxieties', I would be too afraid to take it because of side effects lol 😂 it's a losing situation really. Best of luck to you.

Hi summer,
I am the same as you I worry about side effects I suffered with health anxiety for about 4 years so this is the last straw! Yes I've heard it takes 4-6 weeks 🙈 However my doctor said you start to see effect about 10 days, I've thought about stopping taking them but I've got to do this ! X
