Hi everyone, I've felt more tired than usual in the last 2 weeks and also somewhat nauseous, just not myself. I had a bad allergy attack about 3 days ago. My tinnitus has been growing progressively worse, and today I have louder ringing plus a strange low pitch along with it and fullness. I'm nauseous, exhausted, and feel like I just have to push through the days and pretend I'm not suffering. I can't take a bunch of sick days. I have an ENT appointment Friday (day after tomorrow) but I'm worried and scared - this has happened a couple of times before and at best I'll get a dose of steroids. These attaches are more frequent lately - the last one was in December. Any advice?

Is your diagnosis confirmed Meniere's? or are you establishing that on Friday?
You sound as though you are building towards a significant attack so if not already on them get betahistine tablets started asap as this will, over time, reduce tinnitus and reverse some hearing damage. It takes a month to become fully effective so the sooner you can start the better. To really work you will probably need quite a high dose - way beyond the max recommended in the BHF - so I hope your ENT is up to date with the research of Prof Michael Strup, Munich who has difficult patients on astonishingly high doses.
Good luck.

Hi Maggie,
Whenever I look back at how I was feeling a week or two prior to a big Meniere's episode, I remember feeling increased fatigue and increased tinnitus. Those two symptoms always seem to be my red flags. Sigh. I'm sorry you've been feeling so icky. It sounds like it's possible that your Meniere's is progressing. Have you thought about intratympanic injections with steroids?
I wish you the very best....

Hi JMJ,
Thank you so much. I went to the ENT yesterday and indeed, my hearing test showed that my hearing had gotten a little worse since last year. I got a heavy 3-day dose of prednisone so fingers crossed that works. I have gotten the injections before (in Jan) and that's my next step if the oral steroids don't work. It helps to know that I'm not the only one who feels so fatigued and sick with louder tinnitus before/during an attack. I sure hope the people researching this find solutions for us!!
Best,
Maggie
