Flu-like symptoms

I started this last Tuesday, starting Friday my stomach became upset and nausea which became an every day occurrence. I was trying to push through, but when I took my 4th pill yesterday, things took a terrible turn. I became extremely drowsy, but the trouble didn’t start until I went to class. I became dizzy and could not think at all. Upon coming home, I was severely fatigued, talking was difficult. It was hard to eat, was nauseous, started panicking. My whole body felt numb, I could hardly stand as I was weak and my legs were shaking. My whole body was shaking. I felt dead. I’ve been struggling with anxiety for over a year and yesterday was the worst and weirdest I have ever felt hands down. I thought for sure I would pass out.

I have an appt with my psychiatrist tmrw to talk about switching meds. He told me not to take this one anymore obviously. Although, I am scared now because I don’t know how other meds will affect me.

Hi there, so sorry you are feeling so bad.  When I started on 10mg, I would take them at night because I didn't want the side effects to hit me so hard, I would be sleeping, however I did have some of these, the dizziness, anxiety, change in stool, my chest would feel hot and face.  The worst for me was the dizziness.  Now, all this lasted about 2 weeks before it got better, by the 3rd week and 4th I was lots better!  I had to check in with him before I could get another refill, I told him things were much better, however, by about 2 or 3pm I would feel a little anxious.  He told me they always start our with the low mg to see how you do first, so he upped me to 20mg...well, who knew that you have some side effects until that gets in your system, not near as bad, but same as before.  I am starting to level out which is good.  Hang in there if you can, I know when people told me that at the time I couldn't even think of continuing with it, but I literally took it day by day.  Best of luck!!!!

My cousin had tried prozac, long ago and ended up switching to Wellbutrin and has used that for years.  She said it didn't seem to have the side effects like prozac, so there is definitely other options out there for you.  smile
