Fluoxetine Day 18

Hi all, just wondered if anyone else is on day 18 of Fluoxetine and how are you feeling.  I just don't feel myself at all, still shaking a bit, no concentration and no motivation.  How long will this nightmare last.  I was reading some posts from someone called Sharon from a year ago and she was very positive and said it took her 4 months to see any improvements but after 6 months she was completely well - this seems like an awfully long time and I don't think I can cope.  I was on Citalopram 40mg for four years but had a chest infection in March and the doctor thinks this brought on my depression/anxiety (although I didn't think I was worried about this at the time) she changed me onto Fluoxetine, I thought that because I was on Citalopram and then went on to Fluoxetine that it would work quickly.  Has anyone any experience of this, I'm geting desperate and just want to feel normal.

    Hi

I have been on Fluoxetine for abt 7 months now and it took between 6-8 weeks to fully kick in, however everybody is different, but I am sure it will not take 6 months.

You will get back to normal just hang on there.

Well at least you can go to work. I had 6 weeks off work, i just cld not work. I had terrible shakes and anxiety and loss of appetite. I went through hell and back, but I have been on top of the world for months now. You just have to tell yourself that you will not always feel like this.

      Good luck.

I am right at 5 months on 20mg. 1/2 the prescribed dose. It has taken for me, 3.5 months and am planning on going to 10 soon. For me, it's a sacrifice to take it and am not a fan. I've been on Zoloft and Celexa prior to fluoxetine. I've had so many different side effects from chest, shaking etc etc. Not currently but describe it as a living hell for a while. Each person's different.

Fluoxetine will take some time to make itself balanced and kick it. I thought it would never be the same but days went on battling and the next thing you know your on top of the world again! And it is beautiful. But like I said it does take time. What helps me is I have this saying on my phone and wallet and I read it to myself when I need it. "it's the anxiety or depression messing with you. It's absolutely curable. Breathe and calm your thoughts and remember happy times as they will soon come again"
