ok so i didnt know until recently that you can pass it on with no sores lresent on mouth but how likely is it? my partner for 15 years never got it from oral and many of my friends who have it said they have never given it to anyone from oral. so my questions...... did you get it from someone with or without sore present ? or a sore came the next day or 2 on their mouth from oral? thanks for sharing your stories. you are all amazing and strong!

Yes you can pass it on without any sores. It's very contagious. People can have the virus for years, never have symptoms and be infecting others at the same time. There's no way of telling who you gave it to or when exactly you got it. Your friends can't know for sure they haven't passed it on. Condoms don't offer full protection. My husband and I were together for 7 years before I had an outbreak. I most likely got it early on in our relationship and never knew.

I received oral sex from him 2 days before he got a cold sore. I contracted it and had first ob 7 days later. We have been together for 1 year at the time this happened. Bad luck/timing for me. 😦

He had no Tingling or warning that 1 was coming. He was obviously shedding the virus. We had actually been having unprotected oral and vaginal sex for about 6 months before I even knew what he got cold sores. It's just not something you think to ask My heart sunk the 1st time I saw one on his lip. I just figured well I guess as long is there isn't one present we are good. That is not the case.
