Foreskin pain for a few months.

My foreskin has been very painful to pull back for a few months, usually it slides back without any difficulty.
I first noticed it when in the shower washing my penis and when I eventually managed to pull it back, it was painful to touch and I found it very difficult and painful to get my foreskin back over the head of my penis. I've also noticed what seems to be a small lump of built up skin on the bottom of my foreskin when it is pulled back, which I have never noticed before and It doesn't matter whether I'm erect or not, my foreskin feels very tight and the pain is exactly the same.
On occasions i feel a burning pain when I pee, mainly soon after I've washed in that area and for as long as I can remember I have never been able to pee when standing up.
I'm 36 years old, I'm not sexually active and masturbation is agonising.
I remember having this problem on at least two occasions in the past and on both occasions it clared up on it's own within a few weeks, but this time it has not and it seems to be getting worse.
I find it difficult to get erect and when I do, masterbation can take a long time and it often feels uncomfortable and painful even without this problem. I don't really know why that is, but I have struggled to deal with my sexuality and I think the problem has become worse since I started taking medication for Bi-Polar disorder about a year ago.
My penis is average sized when erect, but when not erect it's tiny and I find it very embaressing to visit my GP on this subject, partly for this reason and partly due to anxiety. I know my GP has seen it all before but I'm still anxious to go and see about this problem.
I have no one I feel comfortable to discuss this with and I don't know what to do about it, any advice would be a great help, thank you in advance.

If you're having difficulty retracting even when it's soft, very painful masturbation, and burning pain when you pee, then you need to see a doctor. Period. Maybe ti will fix itself, but I wouldn't take the chance, and the sooner you get it looked at, the more likely it is that a conservative treatment eg a steroid cream will fix things. Don't worry about the size. Doctors have seen everything, and lots of men (including me) are growers not showers, and most men seem to overestimate what a "normal" size is. Women have to lie on their backs with their legs in the air on a regular basis, while a stranger looks inside them with a speculum and flashlight, so we men have it easy.
My best guess is that it's balanitis or a lymphocele, maybe causing a UTI, but please get checked out.
You could either see your GP, or if you're in the UK, you could go to a genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinic - google "GUM clinic near me" for details.
If you could update this thread and tell us what the doctors say, it would be appreciated. Good luck.

It does sound like an infection and things could get much worse if you don't take of it sooner rather than later so go to a doctor a see what they say. Most likely a short course of an antifungal and/or antibiotic medication will clear it up in a few days. In any case don't let them talk you into getting circumcised for something that can most likely be treated with medication.
Also in regards to your other problems, medications for depression and bi-polar disorder definitely can have sexual side effects. You could talk to your doctor about trying another medication that might have less side effects.

Thanks for the replies.
I went to see my GP today and he told me I have thrush. It was a bit of a shock as I didn't know men could get it. I thought thrush was women's problems, but it's clearly not.
He said it could be down to my diabetes as I've not been on any meds for it for a while because I've been managing it by diet control. I've got to have a blood test and see the diabetic nurse on the 10th of Jan and go from there. It could also be down to me being on antibiotics, as I've had a few infections down to rotten teeth (Which were taken out just before Christmas).
I have to admit I feel a bit of a fool as this could have been sorted out months ago if I hadn't been so frightened to go to my GP. But it's done now and with any luck the cream he gave me will work and I won't have to go back with this problem again.
As for my Bi-Polar meds, the ones I'm on now have changed my life in ways I could have never imagined and I really don't want to change them even if I have to put up with the sexual side effects. Some meds I've been on in the past have almost destroyed me and I can't go through that again. But I've got to go back to see my GP again as he wants to look into my anxiety levels, so more meds might be on the way.
Thanks again for the replies, you've helped my confidence and made me realise I was being stupid over it, so much appreciated.

Good to hear you saw a doctor (high five), and thanks for the update. Men don't get thrush as often as women, but they do get it, and partners can infect each other, so if you had a partner, you'd need to tell them.
Antibiotics are linked to thrush (candidal balanitis), and diabetes is linked to balanitis, its evil twin BXO, and acquired phimosis. It's not unusual for diabetic men to need to be circumcised later in life, so if you get any similar problems, then get checked out sooner rather than later. It's usually quite easy to fix problems like this if you catch them early.
