Earlier in the year my penis under my foreskin became very dry and developed a rash as a result of swimming a lot. A doctor prescribed a steroid ointment that would get rid of what was presumed to be eczema and also helped in case of fungal infection. Please note I did not have an examination, this was prescribed over the phone. Because I had a sexual health check since last sexual partner I knew it was not STI related. I went for a check up following the course of ointment and the nurse I saw said the skin appeared healthy. However, since I have noticed my foreskin does not behave the way it used to. When I have an erection my foreskin rarely sits back over the top of the head and when it does it appears uneven. My foreskin also appears shorter than it used to be. When I return the foreskin to sit on top of the head it folds in on itself which cause irritation of rashes. It has also become very sensitive in my trousers and the foreskin often retracts without erection. Can anyone offer advice? I'm to embarrassed to return to the doctors, you can tell it's a problem they don't want to deal with. I mentioned this problem at my appointment with the nurse when it was in earlier stages and they told me that it isn't uncommon for a foreskin to be uneven, the only problems they look for a phimosis etc. However my foreskin causes irration.

You could try moisturiser. I've found as I get older my skin is generally drier and my foreskin needs some TLC now and again.

Although I'm no expert, to me it seem that you've simply suffering from a rash due to the fact you've been making your skin dry. Washing underneath the forskin with soap makes it dry which again causes irritation and rash. The water at the pool contains most likely chlorine, which also can be harsh to the skin. Shower afterward taking a swim, although the tapwater might contain some chlorine too, it's less than in the pool. Try to rinse your penis with water only and not soap or any showergel and add moisturizing cream now as a start. The penis should keep itself moist if you don't wash it with soap. The best is to let the penis sort the skin out itself out in the long run by not using soap unless it's only occacionally only. Clean water is more than good enough and then dry it afterwards with a towel. If you feel dry during sex or masturbation then add something to keep it moist to avoid getting dry and sore. Often the doctors prescribes fungal creams without fungas infections being the real problem and it has no effect. It's happened to me aswell in the past, as I tend to get a rash myself at times, but it's normal to people with sensitive skin and it's not caused by fungas. Good Luck!

Additionally I can say that foreskins may get a little looser and shorter by time, mine did. I need to correct my foreskin inside my jeans from time to time when it slides back on it's own, but that might be because I used cream to make my foreskin looser as a kid due to phimosis and then it because too wide instead by time. Some things you just need to live with. Don't worry. You're not the only one that this happens to. On others again it keeps retracted whole the time.
?It's not your foreskin itself that causes irritation, it's what you do that causes irritation. Don't dry it out by washing too much, remember to dry with a towl and not let any water remain under your foreskin before rolling it back into place after showering or swimming, use cream if needed and don't let the skin get dry at any time during sex or masturbation, which makes small injuries on the surface of the skin that makes it itch and you'll get a rash or swelling. That would be my advice. Keep us updated, to see if this has any effect. If so, it might help others :-)
