To be further along the peri-menopause road.
FSH was 26 but I was under contraception at the time, in the US they test, in the UK they don't when you are taking birth control due to hormones not being accute, or so I am told!
My Estradiol was 140
Just as my buddy was telling me she never had any symptoms, got tested and it was all over without her knowing, except for no periods!

I feel your disappointment
I thought by the chart 26 means your in menopause. I found this on the a website...
Normal FSH level will differ depending on a person's age and gender.
Male
Before puberty: 0 - 5.0 mIU/ml
During puberty: 0.3 - 10.0 mIU/ml
Adult: 1.5 - 12.4 mIU/ml
Female:
Before puberty: 0 - 4.0 mIU/ml
During puberty: 0.3 - 10.0 mIU/ml
Women who are still menstruating: 4.7 - 21.5 mIU/ml
After menopause: 25.8 - 134.8 mIU/ml
I honestly dont know why they do the test. I had a nurse tell me yesterday she had been without a period for 2 yrs and she knew she was in menopause yet her levels come back like she was still having a period. Ill have to do some more research on the test. I had mine done last year and my Dr. said mine was 5 points away from being in menopause.
Hope your doing well otherwise
have a great weekend. Be blessed xx

oh noooooo... I didnt realise you took combined contraceptive pill..
the only way a FSH blood test is accurate is if you do not take the Pill or HRT..
and are only having ...lsay .... As example 3-4 periods a year that have declined via natural peri menopause..
ladies having natural menopause and having almost regular periods will also get a normal result...
Taking the combined contraceptive pill & HRT may mask the menopause by controlling menopausal symptoms, such as hot flushes and night sweats. It may therefore be difficult to tell when you are no longer fertile. As these treatments boost the natural hormone decline and tests are not then the result you want.
the nurse you referred to may of been also taking HRT or combined pill...
natural peri - although I was in peri menopause my FSH test still came back normal, only when my periods declined to 3-4 ( for example) a year, did my test come back as menopausal...
fluctuating hormones ( up and down) in early peri always nearly give a normal range result... The test more accurate when peri has affected period declone and only having 3 - 4 or less a year..( as an example )
your oestrogen will be that result because of the pill content back in your body 😢
Hope that helps ... I feel your frustration

How To Prepare
Many medicines, such as cimetidine, clomiphene, digitalis, and levodopa, can change your test results. You may be asked to stop taking medicines (including birth control pills) & HRT that contain estrogen or progesterone or both for up to 4 weeks before having a follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) test. Make sure your doctor has a complete list of all the prescription and over-the-counter medicines you are taking, including herbs and natural substances.
Tell your doctor if you have had a test that used a radioactive substance (tracer) within the last 7 days. Recent tests using a radioactive tracer (such as a thyroid scan or bone scan) can interfere with FSH test results.
Let your doctor know the first day of your last menstrual period. If your bleeding pattern is light or begins with spotting, the first day is the day of heaviest bleeding.

So to recap the test I had to collect myself due to the Gyno that requested them, I will never go and see again,( I did not take to her at all) would not release the tests to my GP so I went to the lab signed a release form and got them myself, took them to a pharmacist and he read them, and was shocked that the test had even been requested with Nexplanon still implanted (now removed).....he said and as you have suggested to wait another month or so and do it again to get my hormones more leveled out, he asked me "why did she make you have the test it;s strange".
I will take a copy of the results to my GP next week and let her have her say on the whole saga. (she was away Friday) hense the pharmacist reading!
Mimi I also Googled the charts and thought at 26 was menopause, but then I found other conflicting information, or maybe I was Googled out by now lol.
Jay may I make a suggestion that you post your most recent status in regards to "Useful Info before booking a FSH test" very helpful

i did that... posted it on a new discussion 😀
i do feel for you..
I always said pharmacists are very good, very knowledgable and very helpful... pity your Gyno wasnt ..
in 2011 i saw a Gyno ( well so called ) a Doc doing Gyno tests, and not very thorough at that.. she made me feel crap, not nice woman..
then i saw a Dutch Doc from hell here in Spain... did my smear using a yellow and black workmans torch... ' wont go into that' ... very tramatic experience from start to finish...
but then found a wonderful spanish Gyno and he was wonderful..
