Fundoplication operation done as day surgery?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone on here has had a fundoplication done in a day surgery - and if so how was it? I am having this in a few weeks - and don't know of anyone who has had it done without at least 1 night in hospital?! I do have support at home - but I am a bit scared too.

    Hi Glennie

Day surgery seems quite unusual. It is classed as a major op so they usually like to keep you in overnight to make sure there are no complications.

I was in for 2 nights with mine although I also had my HH fixed as well

    Good luck

Hi Glennie, yes I had mine done in Liverpool and it was a Day Case. I think that is fairly standard in England for a Laprascopic Nissen's Fundoplication. Good luck.

      Thanks Julie,

Did you go in first thing in the morning and have the operation in the morning? or did you have the op in the afternoon? What time did you leave? I only ask because you're the only person who actually answered my question!
