Fybromyalgia and extreme exhaustion

Has anyone found any supplements that help combate the extreme tiredness.  I already am on lots of pain relief for other issues but now with Fybromyalgia I find the tiredness and sickly feeling hard to cope with. I have already been given amitriptyline which seems to help but with the extra side effects would rather not to have to take this if poss.  Any ideas preferably tried and tested.

As well as the Fibro nerve pain, I deal with body wide OA and a mess from hip replacement....so I use a LOT of supplements, very few drugs, the minor ones as I see it.....

Pain is exhausting....and when I need a boost of energy when I have to go out I take DRibose and it does help.

Today I will go out for bridge games and I have my bottle of Vitamin Water already with added DRibose to keep me going thru the day....the Vitamin Water I buy has no sugar so I use my DRibose in it.

I don't know where you are and if all the supplements are available outside the U.S.

I'm in England and never heard of DRibose. Thanks for your reply though

    Hi Kathleen

It is definetely about finding out what works for you. During my research and whilst first on Amitriptyline I read that CoEnzyme Q10 is good and have been taking that since the Spring. My G.P. also presecribed Vitamin D3. As I have mentioned to other members on this site I have found it useful to keep a relaxed diary to log my triggers and for me a major one is when the temp goes below 20 degrees or during high pressure.

    All the best.

Did you stay on the amitriptyline as well I was hoping I could find something in order to come off them.  I do think they help but I've got blurred vision, dry mouth and really don't want to put any weight on as people keep saying happens.

      Hi ya

I was the same blurred vision, loss of balance. I am not sure that any drug other than steroids make you put on weight more to the point that your activity levels drop so of course you may gain some weight. I put on 3 Stone but I am embracing the curves until I can get more acitve again. I would like to add though that I had really huge hormone challenges alongside that I am currently researching links too and this made me realy bloated so I had to re jig my health eating plan and check I was drinkning plenty of water. Ye by the time I got to my diagnosis appt I mentioned to the specialist that on 30mg I was out cold ha ha so he was in agreement with me to source alternatives when suited and use the Amitriptyline when really needed to. So for me it has been keeping my joints warm with woolly socks, gloves, a balance of health supplements as mentioned previously, getting in the sun when I can, keeping mobile when I can etc etc, taking a day at a time. I have recently seen a nutritionist who is also a homeopath and she has guided me towards the GAPS diet which I am starting next week when my cast is taken off. This has great history of making a huge difference to multiple type joint challenges so maybe look into that too :-)

I am taking vitamin B 12 shots once a week.  It helps with the tiredness and with the stress.  If I get stressed I get flareups.  I m taking lyrica, pain meds, and effexor for antidepressants.
