Gall stones and itching

Hi please help! I've had horrendous itching attacks on and off for over 6 years and have done all sorts to try and relieve it but with no success, it's worse if I get hot and recently had a terrible pain and ended up in a&e, after having an ultrasound scan they found a 'Massive' gall stone (was the Drs explaination). The itching has been under my ribs and upper back. Is the itching related to the gall stone? Has anyone else suffered with this? Will it go by having it removed any advise would'be greatly received! Please help me anyone!!!

Thanks sarah

    Hi BWS

I am post op by seven weeks now but suffered with my gallbladder for approximately three years before the op although I didn't know it was my gallbladder causing my pain. I never suffered from any itching of any kind during this time ... Hope your sorted soon .

I suffer from ittching a lot pre and post op. Just now I am in nhs hospital  because of distended stomach and right side stomach pains 6 weeks after the op. I have a lot of itching.. No answers yet. I've had X-rays and catscan and am awaiting consultants conclusion. I do hope you get an explanation for your itching. Keep pestering and so will I.i am disappointed to say the least at not being sorted yet. I think the itching could be gall stone related. The itching is trying to tell us something but the only people who attempt to explain it are alternative therapists who charge a lot of money.i will le you know the outcome of this

Oh I hope you get sorted too, sounds terrible. I've been treated as if it is cholinergic puritis over the years but maybe we've been barking up the wrong tree! Good luck I will post if I get sorted, thanks for reply, Sarah x

I get itching too mainly at night and when I'm warm mine too is under my ribs. I have found taking antihistamines daily helps.

Hi Sam do you also have a gall stone? I itch bad when hot due to stress, exercise, alcohol, spicy food, warm clothes etc. Thanks for the reply, Sarah x

I get occasional bouts of itching. I have multiple stones and a thick gallbladder. Particularly when I had my big attack back in October. I've stuck to a very low fat diet and that seems to have helped while I wait for a surgery date.
