Hi veronica,
Don't know where you are but I'm in the UK. And here I had keyhole surgery was only in hospital for about 5 hours and nothing scary. No real pain from the op itself just 24 hours discomfort while the gas dispersed.
For me the relief from the pain, nausea, food intolerances etc my gallbladder had caused was instant and I've had no significant issues since removal.
I started eating normally right away kept a food diary so I could identify if any foods caused an issue. Only boiled sweets did and that was probably just the amount I ate
Everyone is different but my experience is definitely positive.
Best wishes
