About 2 months ago I had an episode of acute pain that started with me eating then I go very bloated and uncomfortable and I had a pain in my rt shoulder radiating through to my back I could not lie on my rt side felt as if I was being stabbed I could not lie on my back I was shivery and had high temperature. The pin subsided after about 6 to 7 hours I went to gp got seen by a paramedic got antibiotics and referral for a us scan I went on a low fat diet as it all pointed to gallbladder.i had scan about 6 weeks later but no stones picked up just fatty liver and2 small liver cysts.I remained on diet but have had rt sided discomfort under ribs.i was referred to liver specialist who sent me for another liver scan today and it showed my gallbladder had lots of small stones which made me feel relieved that there was a cause for the pain and discomfort.

    Hi,

Sounds like your gallbladder needs to come out. When I had the gallbladder attack that landed me in the hospital, I too had the bad pain in my right shoulder, high fever, and pain in the upper right quadrant radiating around to my back.  I am surprised your doctor didn't remove your gallbladder back when it was so bad.  Does your liver specialist suggest removing the gallbladder?

I got referred to liver specialist from GP when I went to get my first scan results which showed no stones but as I was still having discomfort and nausea, and I had no stones ;even though everything was typical gallbladder. So he referred me for a liver scan with contrast to rule liver out and it showed stones in gallbladder I felt relieved as I had been worried as I still have a discomfort under rt ribs.I have also been referred for a colonoscopy as I had upset bowel movements which I hope are all related to gallbladder as I just had the scan today I am waiting to see what will be suggested next.

What about Ursodioxycholic acid if the stones you have are cholesterol based?  I am not a rep and do not get anything for recomending the dissolving treatment but it did work for me two years with all the symptoms under the sun & yes I did have gall stones & one uneducated Registrar told me the only option was to remove my gall bladder.........         She was wrong and she also retorted she was an expert who knew all there is to know about the digestive system........... |What a pompous lady she was with a very limited knowledge of the internet............. in the USA the dissolution of gall stones is used far more that here = why i ask.

I have lots of tiny stones and I don't know what type they are the GP is going to consult with gastro to see what should happen next .

I would look and research ursodioxycholic acid to dissolve the stones if they are cholesterol based.

It saved me having an operation........  Many on this forum I notice still have adverse symptoms after their gall bladder is removed don't they......?

I still have my gall bladder which is working perfectly and I do not practice a low fat diet but a good balanced diet. I still cut all the fat off my meat but eat butter and a bit of cream on a pudding occasionally.

It is seen from the research in the USA that those not taking ursodioxycholic acid tabs developed gall stones WHEN THEY WERE ON A LOW FAT DIET!  The medical researchers evaluated that a low fat diet can stop the gall bladder from flushing it's bile contents and therefore cause sludge that form the stones. It must be said that most problems with the gall bladder is hereditary.... sure enough I remember my grandma having what they used to call bilious bouts! and when she was sick with that she looked pale and had awful sickness........  She may have passed a stone that was stuck in the tube and I had same but I got mine to move by the diabolical method and experience of a whole lemon and juice in a quarter cup of very warm olive oil 1st thing in the morning before taking anything else in...... If this is done a toilet needs to be close at hand -very close !!!!!   the stones are seen to be greenish colour if one needs to look at the results of that nasty method but it does seem to shift things along that are stagnating....  It's all there on the net if any one looks.  Gall bladder flushing!    Doctors do not believe it but many Quacks do because 'it' works for some...... It's either that or URSO or if that does not work = the knife.
