Good morning it's been a while since I've reached out I've been suffering with my gallbladder for about a year and a half. I finally had it taken out on Friday I thought the surgery was much harder than everyone said. I was very sick and nauseous for two days while having severe shoulder pain after due to gas during surgery. I was just wondering before my gallbladder removal I had a lot of indigestion burping and was hoping this would go away once it was removed however it's only been two days so wondering if anybody else had this problem as well?

Hi April. I was wondering the same thing. I never had a burping problem until I had problems with my gallbladder. I thought having it removed would solve that problem. It's been two months since surgery and I'm still burping a lot although it might be decreasing a little as time goes by. You've just had surgery so give it a little time as far as worrying about pain and nausea. It takes some time but little by little it will get better. It takes time to adjust to eating as well. Nothing sounded good to me for a while. I stayed away from fat but even smile bland things sometimes hurt my stomach. Two months and I can't eat cereal or oatmeal, it hurts too bad. Most other things I seem to handle okay. Give it some time.

I also never had a problem with burping until I developed gallstones. However since surgery, problem has reduced a lot. I'm now 11 weeks post op. Hospital prescribed Omeprazole to help and it does.
You're at a very early stage and it's bound to take a while for your body to adjust to not having a gallbladder.

I was taking omeprozole before for about 3 months & it didn't help at all? I had no sins of gall stones? Gall bladder just not operating only at 14%. I know it's early it's only been 2 days. I also had throwing up after surgery. Did you have that? Nausea still but a little better. Thank you for sharing

Nausea and sickness are probably from the anaesthetic. Some people react to it.
Everyone is different. I had nausea before and retched once but was never sick, but I hardly ever am actually sick. I had a little nausea after surgery but only for a day or two. I really found the Omeprazole helped me. My husband also takes this for his hiatus hernia and find it helps him too. Maybe now your gallbladder is out, it's worth trying again?

Thank you for your responding. I may have to try it again, but I'm not happy about taking any meds unless necessary.

I completely agree. I hate taking drugs unnecessarily. All I take is Omeprazole and inhaler for asthma- won't even take Paracetamol unless I'm really bad as it makes me drowsy. I know there are meds similar to Omeprazole out there and it may just be a case of finding the right one for you. Nausea and sickness etc aren't nice to have to put up with and I feel for you.
