Ok guys, so here is my situation. on july 27 I had protected sex and unprotected oral sex. She did not tell me that she was HSV2 positive. She was confirmed via blood test IGg . I have not had any symptoms yet and I've been tested twice at 4 weeks and 4 days and at 10 weeks and 4 days. both times negative for both. this Saturday will be my 12th week. I have an appointment to see my doctor and he is going to test me again. If any can help me out, if my 12th week test comes back negative, should I test again at 16 weeks? drs and some std counselors are telling me that I'm ok and I shouldn't test at all. tank you guys.

most likely will come back negative i dont see the point in keeping on testing if u have herpes u will get visable sores in which case it would be better and more reliable to have swabs taken given the fact u have no symptoms i think its highly unlikely that u have herpes

thank you for the info, during this time whole time I've experienced so many symptoms from burning, itching, rashes... etc but never had a sore, ulcers or anything like that. I hope that all my tests are accurate and i can move on with my life.

I don't know if you know the answer but what is the difference between 12 and 16 weeks? is 12 weeks good to forget about it? or 16 weeks is the right time? thanks

i understand your concern about getting HsV 2 - However it is highly unlikely that it is transmitted through Oral, - and it is good that you practiced safe sex too. Which reduces the risks.

it takes roughly 4 weeks for it to display symptoms within your body to which you would know by now. You do not need to get tested again.

I too was in a similar situation just like you. I'm almost at a year mark and 50 wk IgG was negative. 8 months western blot was also negative. I'm doing another western blot at the year mark for my own peice of mind. I've read numerous of people who 1 partner has it and the other don't and they have great relationships. it doesn't always transmit easily and female to male the odds are even lower. I think you're gonna be just fine.
