Genital Herpes first outbreak!!!

Hey I’m a 19 year old girl and I was diagnosed with Genital Herpes on 7/26/18. I went to the hospital for vaginal pain and trouble Urinating! First I thought I had a bad yeast infection or maybe it was from rough sex but I started developing blisters and that’s when I knew it was probably Herpes. So the diagnosis confirmed It and I just wanted to kill my self I felt no reason to live. They gave me antibiotics, pain meds, and antiviral meds. I’ve been taking them for 3 days and I feel no improvement if anything my symptoms may be getting worse. It hurts to walk , sit up , and wear panties well let’s just say forget about it. My vag is on fire. Peeing is what I dread the most it feels like every day me Urinating hurts more and more. It’s gotten to the point I can’t pee or poo . Partly by choice because it hurts so much and partly cause I can barely pass urine. Any tips ? I’ve tried Vaseline, a&d ointment, ice packs , hot packs, and pouring water while I pee. Nothing is helping it’s burning from the inside and I think I have sores growing around my iud because I feel a legit stabbing pain in their. Please someone help how long will this outbreak last ? When will it start to get better

    Hi,

I know what you're going through. I'm 35, just got diagnosed this week. The pain has been unbearable. I spent 3 days kind of managing by covering the area in aloe vera gel and vaseline. It worked, just enough t0 make it possible to handle the pain, if all I did was lie naked on a towel. Then today I went to the pharmacy and got a lidocaine spray (10%). It is agonising at first, for about 1 minute, then the stinging subsides and you're in pain free bliss.

Yes I’ve been wearing loose dresses and no panties and sleep basically with my legs wide open. My ob is at the lower part of my vag, thighs and I swear I have bumps inside the vaginal canal. I did find peeing in the shower to actually be not so agonizing. I’ll pee in a warm shower and pour cold water from a cup over my genitals so kinda like straddling the cup. The pain went from a 10 to a 6 so not completely pain free but more bearable.

Sweetie it does get better. I was diagnosed in 2016 and the first ob is usually the worse. I have had maybe 2 minor obs since. I was researching so much about it and came across someone saying lemon balm salve worked for them. I ordered some from amazon and eaxh time I start to feel something I start using it and I have been fine. Keep jn mind everything dont work for everyone. I have never taken antiviral med. Hope th8ngs get better for u.

So you don’t take meds for it. You use an herbal approach how’s it been going for you?

Yes never took meds. Its going well so far. I decided to go the herbal way first to see how it would do for me. I take 1 olive leaf extract aday and a multivitamin thats all.

I have lupus so I don’t think the herbal way would be best with me. I feel like I need antivirals to kick the virus symptoms

Have you tried an Epsom salt bath? Or just a warm bath without soap? I read that helps, I don’t have a bath so going to buy a little tub to sit in haha. I’m 23 and on my first outbreak too. My doctor referred me to a counsellor to help deal with the emotions of the diagnosis. Maybe see if your doctor can do the same. If you need to talk you can message me  whenever x

Thanks I really appreciate the support feel free to message me as well it feels good to talk to people going through the same thing as me . I’m not as emotional about it anymore for the most part cause I heard stress can make outbreaks worse so I’m trying to be positive. I’m starting therapy on Wednesday so I’m looking forward to that. I have a history of mental health issues so catching hsv isn’t making things easier . But I finally found peeing in the shower makes it a little more easier to pee. The pain went from a 10 to a 6
