Genital herpes first time

Okay so I got acyclovir from the doctor three days ago now. I have to take 5 tablets a day and it’s for 5 days, but it’s been three days now and it still shows no sign of going away.

Will I go to my doctor before the weekend? If I dont I won’t have any medication to help? I’m just wondering if I should so I’m still medicated on the weekend as doctor surgery is shut until Monday? Helpp also any ideas on how to get rid of them? Honestly doesn’t look like there going away at all sad

Call your doctor and leave a message tomorrow asking for a yearly dose to take daily. That way when you’re finished with your 5 a day, you can continue to take them daily and prevent future breakouts, that’s what mine did. I’m on day 3 of medication for my 1st breakout and it’s just gotten worse. This could take us a few weeks to get over, but make sure you ask for that additional Meds to continue so we hopefully don’t have to go through this hell again.

I just wonder when it’s going to go away because it just seems like it’s getting worse with everything I do. I’ll call the doctor tomorrow asking for a yearly dose to take daily, so does that mean if I take them everyday it’ll go away?

This is my 1st rodeo too. Hopefully, yes. It will hopefully go away soon and taking them daily will help to prevent further breakouts, and the length of them if they do come back.

Add  zinc  and take it daily also try not to stress.  I was lucky once I started taking the medication it went away right away.  Try and keep your body very healthy.  I know it’s hard not to be depress. Good luck

    Hi Lola,

I too contracted GH recently. I'm on day 9 and trust me, it will get better. About 5 days in, the painful urination stopped. By day 6, I could actually shower without crying and other than the bumps and itching (I have been using hydro-cortisone 1%) I kept rinsing the affected area instead of wiping for a week.  To dry out the wetness I patted on  cornstarch, I was able to shave the area yesterday with now irritation. I was placed on a 10 day 3 times daily scrip of acyclovir. After reading all these blogs about when I can have sex again I am wondering if I should get a regular scrip for Valtrex as I am now in fear of future outbreaks.
