I am in panic mode and need reassurance. Went to the ER after having the feeling of food being stuck in my throat and getting nauseous. It sent me into a panic.
Since about last week i have also had feeling of a lump in my throat on fhe right. Constantly swallowing saliva. The lump feeling comes and goes. I have it now.
I spoke with a doctor who says it is probably GERD and prescribed zantec today but I am still very uneasy because I can still feel the lump sensation on the right side of my throat and food still feels like its getting stuck. This is whats is bothering me most.
Has anyone else experienced these things? Any info would be extremely helpful.

I have been suffering with the lump on throat sensation on the right for 2 months! I had an upper endoscopy that only found hiatal hernia no GERD and then it started right after that. I am going nuts! Had ultasound of thyroid and ent went down throat said throat was a bit inflammed and take ppis for 2 months. Nothing is working I am getting so depressed and I suffer from health anxiety as well since I was diagnosed with uterine cancer 4 years ago. I only had cramping in my upper stomach before the scope now I am miserable! Can't eat anything much feels like food just lays in my throat. I need help!

Hey Josh,
That happened to me about 6 months ago, the right side of my throat also. Felt like I barely could swallow and breath because of it. It was because of acid reflux and stress. They put me on a stronger ppi for awhile only helped a little. Drinking more water and watching what I ate helped. I stopped eating high acidic foods ; mostly tomato sauce. Stopped drinking alcohol. And I noticed sugary things made the mucus worse too. Some days it feels like it's barely there but other days I have that feeling again , but not as bad. Give it time it will get better, maybe see what helps it more for you , I know it can be annoying. Take care!!

People are answering your questions, please take the time to pay attention. Yes it's common with anxiety, your experience is no different to many others who feel the same with anxiety. Address your anxiety and try and not focus on it

Yes when it started felt like my throat was swollen up on the right side and I couldn't eat anything but easy stuff that would go down . I felt like I had strep or something. They thought it was all aniexty related so put me on anti depressant and Zanex to calm me down. It was just how I felt that was causing the aniexty though. You know your body and what's normal or not and if it effects everyday of your life. Thinking back when mine was really bad and I had to go to the er for it was the worst night of my life I thought I was dying ! It took a good month for my throat to feel less swollen. they had put me on stronger ppi for a good while and just watch what I ate .

I've been to ER countless times with the lump sensation called Globus. I was told each visit that it's Gerd or Acid Reflux. I've since had an endoscopy but that was quite some time ago. I currently take Pantropazole 40mg a day but it no longer helps with the Globus. The lump isn't really a lump per se, but just a sensation of a lump. In any case I now seem to have it almost 24/7 and it makes me nauseous the whole time. I find that stress seems to worsen the feel of the lump and the nausea but it's a lose situation because getting the lump stresses me in itself...in other words I go into panic mode.
You should see a gastric specialist and arrange for an endoscopy however, just to be sure.
But I know exactly how you feel because the lump andcthe horrible nausea go hand in hand with me . If you go to ER all they will do is tell you to get an endoscopy arranged. If it's reflux disease there's not really anything they can do in the ER. The first time I went with it the attending doctor did give me a Valium because I was panicked and it sure did help .

The throat lump and swallowing issues have not come back, but ever since i had the inconclusive cardiac stress test I have been a nervous wreck thinking it is my heart. My symtoms have gotten worse and this week when I had some jaw tightening and arm pain I reluctantly let my son take me to the ER. They were very understanding and my EKG and cardiac enzymes were all normal. Now today Im finding if I eat a normal size meal that I have a period of feeling light headed, nauseous and hot flashy after. I feel like the symptoms are getting worse and my GI won't do my endoscopy until they find out if anything is wrong with my heart. ...In the mean time I'm wondering if all of these medications I'm on are only making things worse.. Thank God my stress echo is on Tuesday and I see the doctor the following day....cause i can't take this much longer! Any news for you??
