Getting tested on Friday & I'm terrified!

So I'm newly single after a 9 year relationship. Been single now for 4 months and made the fatal mistake of going on a date with a guy and him promising me he was clean and he hated condoms. I'm on the pill so wasn't worried about pregnancy. About a week after that I get what looked like an ingrown hair above my clit (.as I shave there). No big deal I thought. But now I have another cut below my anus which just started off as a small red spot.
Im now almost certain I have HSV 2 as the areas are not improving and I have got flu symptoms. I'm so annoyed with myself! Why, why,was I so stupid? I was so looking forward to being single again and dating and now I feel like I've ruined all of this for the sake of 1 night!
Terrified of what the doctor will say on Friday.

Has the guy been tested before? As you can have HSV 2 And have no symptoms. Are you getting a blood test or swab test? I'm sorry your going through this.

He said he's been tested but I know they don't test for herpes unless you have symptoms. It's not regularly screened hence why so many people are carriers. I don't know if it's too late for swab as the sores will be a week old by then. I'll get a blood test. I don't even know if I want to know, I would rather be one of those "unknowing" carriers.

Don't bother getting a blood test, you won't have herpes antibodies yet. They can scratch open a sore and usually test it - yes it will hurt - but you need to know what you have. 1) For your own health sake since you will be able to take proactive steps to keep the virus in check once you are sure that's what it is and 2) do you really want to risk giving it to someone and your excuse being "Oh sorry I didn't know." That's about the most uncool thing ever. Some people legit have it and don't know because they have never had any symptoms but if you THINK you might have it and DON'T get tested on purpose and then pass it on well....
I think you know the right thing to do.

I'm definitely getting tested. It's going to drive me mad if I don't know. I wasn't saying I wouldn't tell anyone in the future I just wish I was one of those people who just didn't know they had it and were oblivious. I wouldn't want to out anyone else through this, it's so unfair.
Im trying to think of other things it might be, and the fact that I've had flu symptoms just a coincidence but I think I'm kidding myself and I just can't believe that is if for life and I was so stupid!
How am I going to move forward with this? How do you guys do it?

Update: went to the GUM clinic this morning. Got swabbed etc but the nurse said the sore/ulcers/patches definitely don't look typical for herpes and he'll be interested to see the results too. Couldn't say what else it might be apart from a general bacterial infection. Got 7 - 10 days to wait to find out. Fingers crossed. Going to try not to worry for the next week which is going to be the hardest part.
