You're Welcome!
How long did it take me to level out? What a question, back in Dec 14 I had no idea, come Feb 2015 I started to feel a little better and by May 15ย I was levelling out. However, after being signed unfit due to work related stress, which I came to understand why, I did not realise that my body was about to crash too!
June last year saw me in Torbay Hospital having an appoitment with an MaxFac (dental) Consultant, an extraction, a biopsy and fortunately a few weeks later an all clear. Before I could feel anywhere near to levelling out again at the end of the Aug BH I was rushed into Torbay with a burst appendix and nearly didn't make it! Oh Joy! What next? Next was the wait, with a few scans a 3D Virtual Colonoscopy and one or two more tests just to keep me occupied, I guess. They gave me Christmas and New Year off (to dwell).
So, in answer to your question 12th February 2016 is when I really, truly started to level out, I feel, for the first time. They spent a lot of money doing the scans, especially the 3D one and they decided to get the moneys worth out of it by checking every other bit of me! If they had told me they were doing that I would certainly of had some health paranoia I think, but they didn't and last week they gave me the all, all clear!
Since then I am feeling much better (got to lose 2-3 stone oops! (comfort food & drink)), I am looking for a little part-time job, feeling levelled out and good.
When I went ill Don, I had no idea what was happening to me, I had no expectations (great or small) of anything and I set no time to recover, for want of a better word. All I knew is that I wasn't the fit, hard working, tough ex-serviceman, happily divorced, carefree, jolly and loving Father of two, looking forward to getting remarried again anymore kinda chap.
My Doctor, who knows a lot about sticking plasters for the brain (and probably the best Doc in the world), my Fiancee (who knew little, but learned) and this forum (frequented, mostly, by Angels) helped me through. I read, I wondered and I posted and people reached out.
Give it time Don. Remember there is no getting better if you want to be "normal" orย "my old self again", because that is what brought you here. Break the cycle, go with the flow and look to a change for the better. Try and keep positive, the best you can, and expect down time, I do even now, but after all this I just shrug it off and tell it to ---- off! What also helps me is to come here and help others as others helped me.
Best wishes, chin up (cr*p isn't it, but try!),
David
